Chapter Eighteen
(A/N: Alright this chapter will finally be covering a bit of Lenne's past. Not all of it but, it will give an explanation on why Gabby began to mess with Lenne and why she began to hide and try to fade away from everyone's radar. Personally, some of these things do touch me deeply and I would appreciate if you didn't leave rude or insensitive comments. Also, let's take a moment to appreciate Barbara Palvin when she was younger.)
How do you tell or even express a story like this? It's not exactly something that I can say I'm not ashamed of in a way. It all started in the 5th grade, believe it or not Gabby, Cathy, and I were best friends at the time. I know what you're thinking, 'You're a Junior, get over Elementary already.'. Well you'd hold onto this too if you had to feel it everyday. We were celebrated a Career Day in our classroom and my dad had come in, to talk about being an engineer and Gabby's mom had come in to talk about being a secretary. That's basically when the affair started, for my dad asked her out and they went out for... dinner. Yeah. Let's just say that.
Basically, my dad began to see this woman, Gabby's mom, who was 24 at the time and when my mom would ask why he smelled like another's perfume or he had lipstick stains on his shirt, he'd deny, deny, deny. My mom became very self conscious for little by little my dad was breaking every piece of her without saying a word. I still remember that day at school when Gabby told us her parents were getting a divorce with a smirk on her face, not a single shred of sadness showing. She continued on saying how I was being naive and that'd I'd find out soon. The year was flying by quicker than I thought it would and Gabby was becoming more snarky and slowly gaining more power over a group of preteens.
After a couple of months, finally my mom had enough of my dad's sneaking around and we followed him when he said he was having dinner with his "coworker". We pulled up to some Mexican restaurant, and got out of the car, my mom ready to confront him. Walking into what we saw was a shock, there was Gabby and her mom, sitting with my dad. He had his arm wrapped around Gabby's mom and he was kissing her. When my dad spotted us, he looked annoyed as if he was the one with the reason to get angry. My parents made a scene in front of the whole restaurant, until my dad threw his ring at my mom and told her he was divorcing her. I still have Gabby's mom and Gabby's face embedded into my mind, Gabby was looking at me with a cocky expression and her mom was basically giving my mom the same look. From then on out, Gabby always made it known that my own father chose her and her mother over me.
My dad was never one to be super affectionate, especially during the affair. He always made it know that I wasn't what he hoped I would be, always saying that I should be more like Gabby or Marcia when he saw them at any school function. One day, he went as far as suggesting I dye my hair blonde, stating that it might make me more appealing. Of course, Gabby being who she is, flaunted that my dad was right and that maybe I should change because sometimes I was embarrassing to look at.
The next day, after whole scene at the restaurant, Gabby told everyone about what happened saying that my own dad didn't want me so why should anyone else? That being said, Cathy was the only one who knew what had happened and the only one who actually stuck by my side, defending me against Gabby and her best friend/cousin, Marcia. The end of the year came and of course, Cathy moved and I met Jaqueline. Middle school wasn't much different, I still got messed with and Jake moved to town, only making it worse for me. It was like the whole world began to crash down and my mom, sister, and I were still trying to get on our feet. For about a year or so, we lived with my grandmother and we were scraping pennies, only giving people in school another thing to mess with me about. The end of middle school came by and my mom's small business had boomed and more money began to come in. I had finally grown into my looks but, I still didn't feel comfortable. My freshmen year I got diagnosed with Anxiety and Seasonal Depression which affected me a lot in the beginning of highschool. There were days when the only thing on my mind was harming myself. Then, I learned to build a wall and to block things out, only crying when I was alone or around Jaqueline. Multiple times, my mom tried to convince to let her talk to the principal but, she was busy with her business and helping out so many people that I just told her I was handling it and I was. In my own way of course but, I was still handling it. It's been almost six years and Marcia and Gabby still hold the fact that my dad is now Gabby's stepdad and won't see me or Katia, over my head.
Eventually, I developed a fear of being myself because of all the judgement, only hiding myself behind everything and trying to stay under the radar. Jake made that really hard but, I managed. Finally, I decide to open up and little by little break my walls, and Marco happens. Gabby and Marcia not giving me a break, knowing that it still pains me to see them everyday.

Well peaches, that's most of everything that happened to Lenne. Later the story will go into Jake's past and Lenne's anxiety and depression. Some of these things are very big for me, and maybe it seems unrealistic in a way but not all of it is false. Love you guys -Aime
