Chapter Twenty
My alarm sounded causing me to roll out of my bed landing with a thump on the floor. I groaned and started cursing in Spanish under my breath as I got up and made my way to my closet. Slowly, after picking a random outfit, I dragged my feet to my bathroom and I got into the shower, making sure it was cold so I would wake up. Once my quick, and might I add a freezing shower, was over I made my way to my closet, my teeth chattering the whole way. I struggled to pull on some black tights and a gold glittery skirt and then zip up some high heeled booties. I was too lazy to do anything else so, I slipped into a loose black shirt and put a black Bohemian headband. Walking over to my vanity slowly so I wouldn't fall and die, I put on a light makeup. Before I made my way out of my room, I slipped on some bracelets and swung my small gold chain purse over my shoulder. My boots were loud with every step, the sound being almost enough to make me cringe. Once downstairs, the strong smell of cinnamon drew me to the kitchen where I found chewing happily on French toast. Fist pumping the air, I smiled and walked over to the table, sitting down and stuffing my face. Breakfast was silent until we were both done and it was time to leave.
"So my car or your car?" Jake asked nonchalantly, making my eyebrows furrow in confusion. Grabbing my keys, I chuckled and walked towards the front door. I heard the sound of his footsteps resonating from behind me, my footsteps quickening as well as my heartbeat. When I finally was outside and I thought I was going to be able to make a quick escape, I unlocked the car. Then a hand took my keys out of my hands and held them high above my head. I scoffed and turned to look at Jake with a bratty out. All the fucker did was let out a chuckle and get into the driver's seat of my car, pointing at the passenger's seat with a smirk as if to say 'Hop in.'. I rolled my eyes and stomped over like a child and opened the door, his smirk only growing bigger since I had complied.
"Huh. That was easier than I thought." he chuckled, revving the engine and pulling out of the driveway. Simply ignoring him, I pulled out my phone and began to play 10!10 (A/N: I am legit obsessed with this game like oh my lord. It's addicting, so you should try it.) The car ride was filled with silence, not even the radio making noise. Pulling into the parking lot made my stomach turn, I didn't want to see Them. I unbuckled my seatbelt and let out a heavy sigh, catching Jake's attention. He gave me a reassuring smile with a small wink and stepped out of the car, walking over to the passenger side and opening my door as well. He extended his hand and I took it, stepping out of the car and much to my dismay people were giving us curious looks already. Jaqueline sauntered over to us with a small grin, kissing my cheek and nodding up at Jake. As we walked towards the entrance, Jake wrapped his arm around my shoulder, surprising both me and the people around us. Everyone was looking and whispering, but we just kept walking, not looking back. My confidence wasn't completely in the dump, the two people by my side having something to do with it.
I had changed in a matter of weeks, which was really stupid you could say. Maybe I needed to, though. Being someone else for a couple of years, makes you realize that you missed out on a lot. I'm not worthless just because of shit that happened to me. The world keeps spinning and through it all, you have to adapt. My problem was that I didn't grow and adapt, I hid and burrowed in the shadows hoping that keeping under the radar would hurt less. That isn't true, though. By hiding myself and who I was and what I felt, I just lost sight of who I was becoming and needed to become. Maybe now I'll get on the right path.
The first couple of periods went by in a blur, which says something because I usually pay attention. Lunch came and honestly I couldn't be happier to be able to be in an overcrowded place. The click of my heels could be heard among the empty hallway, as I took my time to get to the cafeteria. The loud voices coming from the cafeteria were getting louder when I saw Gabby and Marcia staring at me with a smirk. The smug look on their faces chilled my core, and I walked faster towards the doors. Finally inside the overly crowded lunch room, I felt like I could breathe, especially when I saw Jaqueline and Jake sitting at a table. Sitting down next to them, we began to engage in random conversation about our classes and I could feel my anxiety of seeing Them washing away, well until a cold sticky liquid was running down my forehead.

She is realizing a lot of things and opening her eyes to a lot of what she missed. I'd as well like to touch the subject of her and Jake's growing feelings. Unless you misunderstood, Jake always liked Lenne but Lenne never noticed and it made him upset. He thought that the only way to be a part of her life was if he messed with her because he began to see how she was pushing everyone out. He didn't want to be part of that group. Anyways, good night and love you guys. -Aime
