chapter fifty-five: Joey was right
I stuffed my hands in the pocket of my hoodie as I kept my head down walking through the halls. I could practically feel the bags under my eyes weighing me down. After taking some books out of my locker, I headed to my first class of this already long day. Only a few kids scattered in the desks across the room, the teacher no where in sight. I plopped myself down into my normal seat in the back, too tired to even think about reaching into my bag to get my headphones. So what do I do? Pull my legs up into the chair and lay my head on my desk, hoping to at least get a little nap in this class period. I feel my eyes growing heavier and heavier as I stare at the rotting wood of the desk.
"Well someone's-"
"Don't even finish that unnessarily sarcastic comment that's 'bout to come out of your mouth, Delgato. Not in the mood." I cut him off before he says something I have to respond even more sarcastic too. I am to exhausted for all of that.
"Got it." I hear him say a little more softly, followed by the sound of him sliding out the chair to the desk next to me. As the teacher began to talk, I felt my eyes grow heavier by the second. So I gave into them, letting them flutter close as I drifted into a beautiful slumber.
The only thing that would make this better is a blanket.
Nevertheless, I slept the entire class. I woke up when I felt a hand on my back, rubbing it lightly while calling my name. I immediately knew who it was. I slowly sat up, bringing my hands to my face to rub my eyes. I was still tired. Just not as tired. "Good morning." Grayson says standing above me. I shot him a sleepy smile and stood up.
"Thanks." I say when Grayson slings my bag over his shoulder.
"Come on." He grabs my hand, and we start to my next class, that I'm pretty sure he wasn't in. That's how each period dragged in throughout the day until lunch. I gathered my papers off my desk, shoving them carelessly in my bag. When I sling it over my shoulder and turn for the door, I see Grayson in the doorway, arms crossed leaned cooly against it, watching me. I just walk over to him, waiting for him to speak first. Again, I'm too tired. He just stares at me for a moment before smiling and grabbing my hand. His touch seemed to burn my hand, in a good way. "Should I be worried on what's got you so exhausted." He asks a different tone in his voice, a very suggestive tone. I hit his arm when he smirks down at me.
"No you imbecile." I huff. "Me and my mom went out to dinner last night and then we went to that small coffee shop across town and talked till it closed at like midnight." I say. He opens his mouth but I stop him. "Then, at like 1:30, Ryder called from a party saying he needed a ride, so I had to drive an hour just to pick up that dumb-ass." I finish. So I didn't get home until almost four, so I am so exhausted.

-Grayson's Point Of View-
It still irked me. About Ryder living in the house with her. They were close before all of this, but now they're living together. Granted, they are now techniqually siblings, but still. I don't like it. And I'm not going to lie, I felt so relieved when her mom got out. The first thought, even though it was selfish, was Shay and her mom will move out and she wouldn't be living with Ryder anymore. Of course I was happy for her and I knew how big of a deal when she got adopted and didn't have to live with her dad, but damn. Why does this Ryder have to be in the picture? What if he tried to make a move on my- on her?
