**YEP. THIS IS IT. END OF ACT TWO.

Who is ready to see Lacey and Soren say they love each other in every possible way besides the actual words? 😅😅

This is important. Lacey has a few MASSIVE realizations in this one. I hope they make sense for you all. And I hope you can understand where she's coming from with all of her conflicting feelings.

Also. No harm to the Pope. 😂

"WE HAVE FIRE."

It ran through me just like that. Like a fire.

Even hours later, clothed and clean, those three words were still carving into my heart.

Fire. Fire. Fire.

I'd been with fire.

I didn't want fire anymore. I wanted oceans.

The lights flickered around me.

Sitting in the corner of an empty F train, trying to avoid Soren's dark look, I glanced up at the dying lights above me. It rocked to a stop abruptly, jolting me to the side.

Breathe.

My hair fell forward in a curtain and I didn't move to brush it away.

Instead, I inhaled, feeling somewhat at ease with a barrier between the two of us.

"Just you and me."

I was worried that if I looked at him, I'd turn to ashes. We had fire? He was fire. He could have me burning beneath him with one look.

A low announcement from the conductor told me that we were delayed.

Breathe.

Why couldn't I shake that?

"Fire?" I asked incredulously, still delving into those swirling oceans. "We have fire?"

"Don't we?" Soren challenged with that lilting smirk. His fingers trailed along my sweaty cheek, a featherlight caress that made me shiver. "We're like a fire, princesa."

"Soren... what we have is dangerous."

It didn't matter.

It didn't stop me from rocking my hips against his. It didn't stop me from pressing my lips against his. It didn't stop me from moaning his name as he pushed me over the edge.

Dangerous or not, Soren was it.

"Lace."

Tan fingers suddenly brushed that curtain away from my face, tucking it behind my ear with an acute look in those green eyes.

"Are you okay?"

I nodded, slipping out of his hold to bring my thoughts back to this moment.

Breathe.

One touch and he had me hyperventilating.

One touch and he had me forgetting to breathe.

His brows furrowed when I leaned my head back against the wall. There was only a split second before Soren darted forward, ducking into the seat next to me to press a hand against my sweaty forehead. "Are you sick?"

"No, no, no." I swatted his hand away nervously. It was suffocating me. All these feelings for him. I didn't want to make the same mistakes I'd made with Seth. Soren was dangerous. I'd always known it, so why had I let myself get sucked up in it?
