4 months later...

Bella's POV

My baby bump was showing. I wasn't ashamed of it-- in fact, it made me happy to think that a human being was growing inside of me.

It was just hard to imagine the fact that Ryan wasn't going to be there with his child and the child wasn't going to have a father. I had both my parents, when I was young, and it was a great life then. At least I'd known my mother before she died.

After a month in the hotel, we couldn't afford anything more, so we decided to move to Nicole's grandma's place in Washington. The drive was a couple hours, but we managed.

Her grandma was quite the character, that much I could tell you. She wasn't mean or anything, but she was... Extra.

And there wasn't anything wrong with being extra.

"Ohhhhhhh! My baby girls are home! I love you baby dolls so much!" She squealed when she opened the door and saw us.

The last time I'd seen Nicole's grandma was about 4 years ago. I missed her a lot, but I was so excited to see her.

Boy, her house was tiny! It had a small kitchen, a  bedroom, a tiny living room, and a bathroom.

Nicole was going to sleep with her Grandma in their bed, and Diasy, Charlie, and I were forced to sleep in the living room.

The first night I'd fallen asleep, I had a nightmare of Ryan and I woke up crying. It was 2:00 A.M., roughly, and Daisy woke up to comfort me.

She patted my back, told me everything was alright, and even made me a warm glass of hot tea. She was so sweet!

"Daisy, you're so amazing," I said, hugging her. She laughed and hugged me back.

"I do what I can."

I wiped a tear away with the cloth of my sweatshirt. "I just miss him more than anything. I wished I could just see him one more time..."

"Bella," Nicole said, pushing my hand away from my head, "listen to me. Ryan... he- he wasn't good for you. When you were with him, you were always in danger. And take a look, he's not around you. And are you in danger?" She asked.

I did take a look around me, and it just so happened that she was right; when I was with Ryan, my chances of getting hurt - or even killed - were pretty high. But I was with Nicole now, and Daisy and Charlie, and I was doing okay...

My baby was still safe, as was I. We were in good shape. Everything was okay.

... But that wasn't going to change anything. I still missed him, so much, so horribly much...

"Daisy, I understand that you're right and everything, but... have you ever been in love with someone before?" I looked deep into her bright blue, dazzling eyes.

She looked over at Charlie, who was in a deep sleep. She smiled. "Well... I suppose not a deep love, like you've been in. But I have had the feeling of love."

"The thing is," I began, "when you're in love... it's like you'd do anything for the ot he person. You'd kill for them, jump in front of a car for them, take a bullet for them." I remembered, thinking of Ryan. "Basically, you'd give them the world. And Ryan did that for me. Which is why I wasn't as worried when I was with him. I knew we were always in danger, yes, but he'd do anything for me. Just as I would for him. And I loved him for that."

Daisy looked at me with curiosity. "Yes, I suppose you're right." She looked around the room. "I'd bet you miss him a lot. Do you wish to see him?"

"All the time."

"Then you should see him. Maybe he's up and out of his coma. Maybe he's looking for you right now. You should go, and fine him! I'll cover for you." Daisy nodded her head, liking her idea. It was too dangerous, though, because we were roughly 10 hours away from home.

I just wasn't going to take the risk.

"Daisy... I wouldn't want to scare Nicole like that. You're really sweet for having the will to cover for me, but that's just too dangerous of a plan to go with. Thanks anyway," I said, smiling.

"Of course." Her eyelids were falling even more. She needed sleep.

"Daisy, you can go to sleep. I'll be fine. See you in the morning!" I said, running my hands through her hair.

"Good night."

"Good night," I replied, sipping the tea she made me. It was hot and sweet. Just how I loved it.

(A/N: that was a flash back of the first night^. We're now going back to present time)

"Hey Grandma!" Nicole yelled at the table.

"Yes, baby?" She called back.

"You don't at all mind the fact that we've been staying here for four months?" She asked, pouring a cup of coffee.

Nicole had gotten a job at a near Dollar General, so we could help support ourselves. I got a well-to-do job at a Diary Queen, as well.

"Well, I'm going to give you guys another month, and after that all ya'll gotta go. I need mah space, baby girl." She was cleaning the bathroom.

"Okay, Grandma, thanks." Nicole was laughing.

"No problem, sugar." She was on the floor, scrubbing with a sponge.

"Can you pass me the salt, Charlie?" Daisy asked sweetly, batting her eyelashes. Her and Charlie were definitely in love.

"Of course," he said, reaching his arm across the table to receive the salt. He got it and handed it to her. He wrapped his arm around her waist. It was adorable.

"Thank you," she said. She sprinkled some salt on her eggs and sat the shaker back down.

"So what's the plan for today?" Charlie asked, buttering his toast.

"Well, I've got to work, but I'm sure Bella can do something with you today," Nicole suggested, looking at me.

I agreed, eating my eggs.

"Bells, baby doll, you can take em' to that abandoned church that we live a few blocks from. It'd be fun. Them damn kids from the neighborhood go there all the time. Some even catch sight of paranormal activity."

There was no way I was going to an abandoned church in the morning. Never. I'd go if Nicole were coming, but she wasn't, so I was kinda screwed.

"Nope. I refuse to go."

"Please, Bella! What's the worst that could happen?" Charlie inquired.

"The worst that could happen?" I asked. "Well, let's see, I could trip over a dead body and kill my baby. And I'm not going to allow that." I rubbed my stomach slowly.

"You're overreacting, just come with us! Please!" Daisy begged.

Nicole's Grandma stopped scrubbing the floor and turned to look at me. "Just take those poor babies to the church and let em' look around a bit! Just an hour, that's all."

I groaned. "Fine!"
