A/N
So I'm trying to make Yeoreum immature in the early chapters so if she may come off annoying or immature, it's on purpose. You know, character development. And I'm challenging myself too.
- 3 months before the wedding -
Click. Click. Click.
I turned towards the sound to find Ryeowoon playing with his pen "Would you stop that?" I commanded, feeling irritated by the sound. Ryeowoon raised both of his arms and said "Okay. Calm down bro"
I glared at the guy. I know I'm being mean but after those guests came to our house a few days ago, I couldn't help but be bitchy. Because one, I'm being forced to get married at what? 14! And two, because of number one!
The teacher entered the room and I forced myself to focus. I did but every time I forgot about it, I'll remember that I forgot about it meaning I remembered it again. I huffed, already frustrated 15 minutes into class.
When P.E. period came around, we changed into our P.E. uniforms. I was one of the first ones to finish changing and so I came out to the field and sat with Haru.
"Yeoreum-ah~" Haru cooed, clinging herself to my arm "Look at this!" She squealed as she showed me Park Jimin's photo. Usually, I would be fan girling with her. But for some reason, not even Park Jimin could cheer me up.
In fact, I grew sad at the thought that I will never be able to marry Min Yoongi because of this goddamn arranged marriage. If only it was them I was arranged marriaged with.
Haru noticed this and asked "Hey, what's wrong?" I look at her for a moment, contemplating on whether or not I should tell her about my current situation.
"You see I'm-"
"MIN YEOREUM!" I was cut off by my gym teacher. I looked at Haru and said "I'll tell you later" She nodded and I went over to my gym teacher.
"Yes sir?" I asked
"You have a guest" Sir Heo said, pointing to a black expensive looking car.
'Wait...' I thought
"Well? What are you waiting for? Scoot!" Sir Heo said impatiently.
"Okay okay" I muttered, walking towards the car. When I did reach it, the same man with the black suit I saw at my house opened the car and there, I saw Kwon Pal, the old man.
"Don't worry, I won't kidnap you" Kwon Pal joked but I didn't laugh. But I went inside the car anyway.
"What do you want to tell me, sir?" I asked.
"Please call me grandfather" He giggled but I still didn't find it funny. Kwon Pal noticed and stopped laughing.
"I came here to persuade you"
"I believe you can't, sir" I insisted.
Kwon Pal sighed "You know your family is not in the best condition right now, right?"
That pissed me off.
"Yes and we can sort it out ourselves thanks"
"No you can't. Especially with that attitude, young lady" Kwon Pal said, amused.
"Actually, I can. I will work hard and do my every best to help my family, sir"
"And if you agree, you will help your family very well"
"Sir, there are many other girls in the world, not just me. I'm sorry but I'm very young and so I'll have to decline your offer" I said coolly.
The old man laughed "You are hard headed miss"
"Thanks"
"But you know, if you agree, our family will pay for all your educational fees up to when you finish college. We could also help your family in your business. I mean, as far as I can see, I think your family will go down even more and you won't be able to help them because you couldn't finish college"
I gulped at his words. He made sense but still, I won't give up my life and future because tempting offers were offered to me. "Why me sir?"
"Your father used to be my assistant. He's quite close to me and I have a soft spot for him. When he resigned, I was disappointed because a great man left my company for what? To work even more jobs, Ms. Yeorum. I'm sure you know that he has a lot of jobs and I'm guessing you feel bad for him?"
He searched my eyes but I did not reply and so he continued.
"If you agree to this Ms. Yeoreum, your family will live a comfortable life. And more especially, your father won't have to work anymore and they would still be fine. Why? Because you're gonna be a part of our family and we would do everything for you and your family to live a comfortable life"
"I-" I began to speak but Kwon Pal interrupted me.
"And also, you and my grandson don't have to be married forever. You'll be married to him for ten years and after that, you could divorce. You'd still be in your early 20s too.Even after then, we would still help you if you want. Isn't that tempting miss Yeoreum?"
He flashed me a grin and I kept quiet.
We exchanged goodbyes after that. I skipped school and went home. And as expected,my mother got very angry at my early return.
"Are you skipping school?!"
I looked at her blankly and asked "Will it benefit us? The wedding?"
My mother was caught off guard and it was safe to say that her anger died from that.
"Why? Are you considering it?"
"Kwon Pal visited me to school today. Offered me good deals like a conman "
Mom grabbed my hand softly and lead me to a chair "You don't have to do this if you don't want to. We can tell them that you can't"
Mom pulled me in to an embrace and I could feel tears fall down from my eyes "Oh you're so young" I heard mom mutter into my hair.
I'm scared and I can't help but think that maybe the marriage would do good. Not only to me but also to my family. That maybe this marriage is the only key to a good life.
