Astrid is Merida best friend at middle school. When their friendship is ongoing Merida have to transfer to another school because her mother got offer to become a new principle at Ardell High School which is now they all study at.
And the story say that Hiccup is also Astrid friend, well kindergarten's friend. They know each other because Hiccup's mother and Astrid's mother are best friend. Astrid is now live with her aunt's house because she want to see her best friend again. Astrid always recess with her cousin, Fishleg. It was her aunt order if not fishleg will get bullied.
