Nicholae hackles rose.
This magic had to be so powerful it broke through his wards.
That was the only explanation for the sick apparition that manifested in his room. This for must be a dastardly one if they knew about his affiliation with Valentina.

He hissed at the demon showing it that he was ready to fight. He'll be damned if he was going to be easily fooled.

'Who sent you here and why?'
He injected as much venom in his voice as he could.

'You better answer or you won't be allowed to leave.' He threatened the spirit. His heart nearly tore inside his chest because he spoke to her like that. But he had to remember and continue reminding himself that that wasn't the real Valentina.
At first he thought it was his chance to seek forgiveness from Valentina, but then he realized it could also be a trap. And he couldn't fall for it. Everything he loved would be at stake.

The spirit returned his look of disdain with a healthy dose of defiance.
'No body sent me here. I came here on my own free will to unmask you as the killer that you are.'
Killer? Him? Well... yes but the Valentina he knew wouldn't accuse him of such a thing. Unless... well unless...
'I'm a spirit and you can't keep me here.'
She tried to ran through the walls but it was as if she was blocked by an invisible shield. She landed flat on her butt.
Then she tried the door.

There was no luck there as well.
Then she turned to face him once more the defiance had been overthrown by fear.

'What?' Her voice quivered.

'You can't leave that much is obvious. And unless you tell me the truth, you will not leave alive.'

'How predictable. You want to kill me again? I'd like to see you try.'

Nicholae was perplexed at her outrageous accusation because it wasn't too far from the truth. So which one of his many enemies knew about his transgressions and had just now decided to use it against him.

'You can't kill someone who's already dead.' Valentina continued with spunky defiance which was only betrayed by a slight shaking in her voice.
The phantom didn't embody any of Valentina's personality. Valentina wasn't bitter and she never beheld anyone with this much hatred.

'Who are you?' He asked.

'Are you playing dumb?' She asked.

'Just answer the damn question.' He snarled.

'Valentina Alexis. A descendant of Ximena, witch to the Lynch Clan.'
That was common knowledge.

'More.' He ordered.
She folded her hands and scoffed at his authoritative tone. But she replied regardless of how she obviously felt.
Evidently, fear was an effective tool.

'I was born September 24, 1809. And I was killed October 19, 1910. And I'm seeking revenge against those who wronged me.'
She meant him.

'Osei and Semi will come looking for me soon. Trust me, Semi will know to look here.'
That caused his brow to raise, her caught her in a lie... a trap of her own design.

'Is that so?'

'Yes. They are fully aware that you killed me. Because I told them. And if any harm comes to me, Osei wouldn't care about starting a war.'

'Liar. He will care. He has a family now.'

It was Valentina's turn to smile.
'Shows how little you know about your potential 'ally'. You went to his camp asking him to offer his mate up for the goodness of the human race which he hates so much. He's itching to take a bite of you. And to hell with the consequences.'
