beautiful woman
how many times do you need to hear it?
will it ever be enough for you?
not having validation constantly, do you fear it?
with a confidence shattered, you remain askew
searching for affirmation you never had
from the one that you called "dad"

well-dressed gentleman
how much money to fill your bank
that will never fill your heart?
your success and ego won't fill that tank
with status or profile to set you apart
to whom is it you're trying to prove?
fighting a forever battle that you'll always lose

girl with downcast eyes
feeling like you've had more than enough
self deprecate and hurting yourself
separating yourself to prove your tough
depressed, refuse to accept help
afraid you won't last through another day
you're spiraling downward, fading away

angry man
instead of words you use your first
control by force your comfort
what made you decide to resort to this?
the only action you understand is hurt
destroying yourself and all around
the drug of rage is how you're bound

conniving madam
standing on others' backs your cup of tea
with half truths, lies, and fibs
manipulate for gain tirelessly
convince yourself its how you must live
you say its all game, playing hands dealt
the only person you're lying, is to yourself

lackadaisical boy
rolling eyes and dice, never giving thought
to how you treat others with lack of respect
never giving back, you never brought
anything to the table with loving effect
you life life replying that you don't care
to mask the pain of those who weren't there

judging reader
no matter how much you may think you're different
or an exception to this case
you're like those here aforementioned
a truth you must be honest and humble to face
yet good news says we can conquer all sin
with love we strive to fight that dark within
with mercy and grace for us, we pass to others
we're not so different from them, our sisters and brothers
