Eve of My Heart

Looking out my window, I see me there
I want to look ahead, can't help but stare
the car moves forward and drives away
hands pressed to glass as I watch me fade away
I'm waving good bye to the old me I knew
for something much better, alive and renewed.

Thinking back on all that's unfolded
not to bring down or feel again scolded
seeing where I've been and how I've come so far
as I move further up to touch the stars
no longer times of somber and grim
I only see shimmering light that never dims.

Another year gone and another here to come
a thankfulness fills my heart for all that You've done
a flame that once felt cold and snuffed out
now replaced by a faithful, bright lighthouse
shining in the dark of this existence we've been placed
feeling loved and purposeful, all sins erased.

A hope that is full yet continues to grow
seeds of passion that continue to sow
learning and burning with desire to live
loving this life as one living to give
in Your strength I shall continue to stand
feeling myself in the palm of Your hand.

So many resolutions to fill these pews,
but my only resolution is to lean on You,
everything else comes when You're at the heart,
actions pour forth with faith at start,
despite what happens once this day ends
You are my future upon which I will depend.
