Chapter 19

I spent the next few days with Kai, he didn't really want to let me out of his sight.
It was a bit different for Kai I'll admit, but I didn't exactly hate the fact he can say he loves me now.

He was mostly just sorting out Gemini business. Since he was the coven leader they were obliged to disclose any and all information to him. So now he knew the complete inner workings of the coven.

"Well you were right about other prison worlds"
I told Freya on the phone.

"I knew it!"
She sounded enthused to be right.

"But even the entire Gemini coven doesn't know anything about a prison world for a wolf pack."

"Nope there's just a random ascendant that's busted."
Kai added into the conversation.

"So you think that was the ascendant?"

"If it was, it doesn't work anymore. Which means it either takes more than Gemini magic to access it..."
Kai spoke plainly.
"Or that prison world no longer exists."

I sighed and so did Freya.
"We'll just have to keep looking. I've got some family business to attend to in New Orleans for Klaus, so when that's done I'll hit the books."

"Thanks Freya, I appreciate it."

"No worries"
She ended the call and I sighed.

"Sorry babe"
Kai said and kissed the side of my head, the stubble on his chin prickled the side of my face a bit.

I just sighed and laid my head in his lap.
We just sat in silence while Kai played with my hair.

"Babe move. Now."
Kai said quickly and sounded scared, so I sat up.

"Kai what's-"
I didn't have chance to finish before he ran to the bathroom and projectile vomited.

And it was blood.

"Oh my god Kai!"
I rubbed his back.
"Here!"
I bit into my wrist and gave it to him.

He snatched my arm and quickly calmed his mouth around my wrist.

He wiped his mouth clean.
"Thanks."

"No prob-"
It didn't take long before he was vomiting again.

"My blood isn't working?!"

"Clearly not."
He said annoyed before vomiting again.

"Then what-"

"It's the merge"
He quickly said.

"The merge? I don't-"

"I was supposed to merge with Jo, my twin. But I merged with Luke."
He vomited again.

"Then we'll go to Jo."
I said gently and rubbed his back, giving him a small kiss on the nape of his neck.

He wiped his mouth and flushed the toilet.
"She won't help."

"She has to. You die, she dies. She and Alaric will just need... gently reminding of that."
I smiled and carefully hugged him.
"Now let's go help you survive"

He smiled and cupped my cheek.
"Every day you remind me why I love you"
He kissed my forehead and we headed to Jo's.

"She's not answering the phone Sylvia"
He sighed after trying to phone Jo for about the fourth time.

"Then we'll just turn up at her door. If you die, she dies."

He nodded but was struggling to walk so he had his arm around me and I was helping him.

He looked at me and smiled.
