This morning has been different. My dad usually comes in to great me. Instead my mom came in. She just did the usual. She put my clothes on and brought me down the stairs. Where was daddy?

Anyway, I can walk somewhat now, but I still need that push mobile sometimes. I can also crawl up the stairs. But, Lane has already mastered walking and walking up the stairs!

"Common in here sweetie. I have you some bananas and grape juice."
"Otay m.. Momma."
"Eat quick because today were going to look at larksville preschool."
"Pre...school?"
"Yes. Lane will be there so you won't be alone."
"Otay. Wh...ere dada?"
"Oh sweetie. He's working. Trust me I want him here as much as your probably would. He's not going to be back for a few months."
"What..t?"
"Sorry."

My dad has left again? You would think he would quit to come here with us! Why does he leave for that long! I need a fatherly figure around! I wish I could speak clearly to tell him all those things.

After I finished eating my mom got out my car seat and put it in my daddy's truck. I was in the back. My mom was driving and she had me facing the seat.

We were going to a school open house. It was my very first one. I hope it's not going to be as boring as it sounds.

My mom had me dressed in blue overalls with a pink tank top beneath it. I had my pink uggs, and had my hair in a ponytail. It was so thin it could barely be put up. In my arms I had my blanket that my daddy bought for me when I was born, which he sent it from his work. It had softballs all on it. It was my favorite thing in the whole world next to my daddy.

"Okay we're here Leigh!"
"I.. Do. Want!"
"What?"
"I do n..ot want!"
"Well it's school. It's strictly enforced among minors such as yourself. It's a daily thing! You'll make friends okay?"
"Otay."

We came in and there was little kids everywhere with their parents playing with toys in the corner. It looked like fun so I went to play.

"Hi! I.. M Leigh!"
"I am Jessie. You wanna play?"
"Ya!"
"We are playing dolls. You can be tat one."
"Otay."

We went on to play and it was pretty fun. Jessie was a dark skinned girl with black hair. She was skinny, and she had green eyes. She reminded me a lot of Lane.

Before I knew it my mom told me that it was time to go. I had so much fun! Open house wasn't bad at all!

On our way out we saw Lane and his parents. I went up to Lane. I grabbed his arms and kept them to his side.

"W..hat are you doin..g?"
"Ook into my eye!"

He looked into my eye and studied it. I waiting for a sparkle. Just to see if he had compassion for me. I needed that man figure, and every single one of my mom's friends had one, so I thought I should have one to.

"I don't see any.. tin"
"Dare is no sparkle. Why no sparkle?"
"I don't know? What even is tat?"

We were separated by goodbyes of our parents. Lane went into that same classroom with Jessie. And instead, we went outside, back into our car.

I felt something for Lane. I just didn't know what. I usually don't get excited to see him. But when I grabbed him he stared into my eyes differently. It wasn't that ordinary stare he would give my when we were babies. He was a little toddler now and we can bro tray emotions now. It's becoming clear to me that I have something for him like mommy does with daddy. This is because I'm actually missing Lane as I watch the raindrops roll down my car window. Why was I so stupid to hate him? What did he do?
