Your point of view:We step outside into the courtyard so say goodbye to the man that destroyed our childhood, filling it with training and work. The rain pours around us, causing the floor to become a mess of mud and leaves. Luther holds out the container of our 'Father's' ashes and tips it upside down allowing them to fall into one big pile on the floor.
We all just look at the pile, frowning slightly, Luther looking the most upset. We all -apart from Diego and I- hold black umbrellas to shield ourselves from the rain, Five and I sharing one. The funeral seems pointless when you know that in eight days time the world could be completely over and none of this will matter because everything will be gone. Pleasant thought, right? You never expect the apocalypse to come during your lifetime. When you find out, it hits you hard. I would say like a ton of bricks but that would be nothing in comparison to the feeling of knowing your death date, slowly moving closer and closer to it without knowing how to prevent it. The end of the world is inevitable but if there's a way of pushing dooms day further away then it needs to be done, figuring out how is the hard part.
I'm pulled out of my thoughts when Pogo asks
"Does anyone wish to speak?"
None of us respond so he begins to speak again
"Very well, in all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreaves made me what I am today. For that alone, I shall forever be in his debt. He was my master and my friend and I shall miss him very much. He leaves behind a complicated legacy-"
"He was a monster," Diego interrupts, Klaus laughs while Pogo looks slightly upset by his comment.
"He was a bad person and a worse father. The world's better off without him." Diego keeps going, still no emotion in his voice.
"Diego." Allison intervenes as she can see the damage that could be caused by these actions.
"My name is Number Two. You know why? Because our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names. He had mom do it." Diego says. I look at the ground. Everything he says is true and that isn't all. He permanently damaged some of us.
"Would anyone like something to eat?" Mom asks sweetly, seeming quite unaware of what is happening.
"No, it's okay mom." Vanya answers quickly.
"Oh, okay." Mom says, again, sounding distant.
Diego steps forwards.
"Look, you wanna pay your respects? Go ahead but at least be honest about the kind of man he was."
"You should stop talking now." Luther gets involved. If I still know him, something is gonna happen now.
"You know, you of all people should be on my side here, Number One." Diego says slowly. Shit.
"I'm warning you." Here we go again, these two have always clashed.
"After everything he did to you? He had to ship you a million miles away."
"Diego, stop talking." Luther continues through gritted teeth.
"That's how much he couldn't stand the sight of you!" Diego yells as he pokes Luther in the chest. That's where he completely crossed the line.
Luther swings at Diego and they start to fight. Diego jumps onto Luther's back in an attempt to push him down, failing due to Luther's strength.
"Hit him, hit himmmmm." Klaus encourages while clapping while the others shout to get them to stop it. The fight both climaxes and ends as Five walks off and Luther swings at Diego, misses and knocks Ben's statue down, causing the head to fall off upon impact with the ground.
Diego throws a knife and I use my telekinesis to quickly stop it.
"You're joking right? That's enough." I say. Diego reaches for another knife and I use my telekinesis to stop him from moving and lift him about five metres off the ground. The others look shocked. Possibly unaware of my ability to do this before now.
"I said stop." I say firmly as I lower him slightly, dropping him when he's one metre up. They all make their ways inside as I stay out in the rain to reflect on everything.I remember:
**Flashback to apocalypse**We walk, and walk until our feet can't carry us any further. Still no sign of life. No interesting foods. Just destruction for miles. I turn to Five who looks completely broken.
"Let's take a break." I say quickly. He puts down Dolores and before he can sit too, I hug him tightly. He wraps his arms around me.
"We're gonna be okay. Right?" He asks, clearly unsure.
"Do you want the honest answer or the made up one?"
"Honest."
"I don't know. Doesn't really look like there's much hope but there may be a way out of this."
He lets go and nods before sitting down, I sit next to him.
"What're we going to do Eight?"
"Hopefully go back and prevent this from happening."Word count: 839
