Thirty-Five

"I spotted her around the neighbourhood, I don't think she left the town." Max commented as he hand me my drink. He stop by my college to grab early dinner with me, "I think I saw her with this one guy. I think Sage's brother? He looks so similar to him, and he have tattoos all over his arms so I don't know. The guy that we saw at the hallway looks way too professional to have tattoos."

I furrowed my brows, scratching my head. This damn wig is fucking itchy. "You know you look so weird with braces and contacts, and even the glasses kind of throw me off." Max added as his eyes look all over my every feature, "I swear I wouldn't be able to recognise you if it's not for you annoying shitty attitude upon seeing me."

I raised my brows, "You're one to talk. You have a much worse attitude." I muttered and shake my head. I love that even the age difference, Max still somehow become an important part of my life. "How's everyone back in school? Any idea?"

Max has went back to school, after much consideration. I told him I don't want him to throw away his education, I'm willing to even support his financial. I'm glad he listened to me. He furrowed his brows together, "Well Vincent has been going at it with Sage. And you know something surprising?" He paused to look at me, "Tiffany has actually stop bullying anyone. In fact, she actually don't act like herself lately. She's very quiet and distant." He took a bite of his burger and chew on it.

"Strange, she doesn't sound like herself." I said quietly, Max bummed in agreement but he's too focus with his delicious food. "Do you think my hair looks ridiculous?" I asked him as I look at my reflection on my phone. I mean I was in the car when I got ready, who knows my wig is not right.

Max just make some sort of noise of agreement, not bothering to look at me. I rolled my eyes, "Thank you for being so helpful." I said sarcastically, to which he just waved me off with one hand and continue to devour his food. My phone chimed with a new text message, I look down to read the name.

Arialyn.

Just seeing her name make me fumed with anger. I feel so angry, but I also feel pain. The one that I've trusted for as long as I can remember. We grew up together. I've known her my whole life, how could she betray me like this? "Who is it?" Max asked with mouth full of food. A single tear escaped my eye and I quickly wiped it away. "Why are you crying?" I glance up from my phone and he frowned at me with concern.

"It's no one," I found myself say. "Just a wrong message."

Max cocked his head to the side and raised an eyebrow, "So why are you crying? It's a love message that's been sent wrongly?" He said, voice dripping in sarcasm. I rolled my eyes and look down on my phone, "I think it's an allergy reaction. You know I can't eat seafood." I mumbled, I did in fact ate a prawn as lunch just few minutes ago before Max got me another drink.

He scoffed not believing a word, but I couldn't give a single care about it. Just as Max about to open his mouth to say something, someone joined us on our small table. "I've been looking for you," I turn my head, meeting her brown eyes. She huffed, "I tried getting your attention since class started but you couldn't even spare me a single glance." She starts to ramble on and on about how she feels lonely without me around since Sage is not around to hang with. "Oh I'm sorry, that's rude of me for not introducing myself I'm Halsey."

"Oh you only noticing him just now after a whole good five minutes of you rambling?" I said in disbelief. Ignoring me, Max shot her a smirk. "I'm Max."
