“I don’t want a lot for Christmas

There is just one thing I need

I don’t care about the presents

            Underneath the Christmas tree

I just want you for my own

More than you could ever know

            Make my wish come true

            All I want for Christmas

            Is you.”

A smile formed in my lips as I finished singing Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You. Seriously, that song must be the greatest romantic Christmas song ever. I hummed the tune as I slipped on my red knee-length dress.

“Melanie! Garret’s here!” Lillian called from downstairs.

My heart skipped a beat. I almost laughed at myself. Ever since I’ve fallen in love with Garret, my heart often skips a beat. Goodness, hormones are really weird.

I grabbed the paper bag that was filled with my gifts for my friends then skipped my way downstairs. When I saw Garret wearing his red polo shirt and white jeans, I blushed. Just seeing Garret is enough to make me blush.

“Merry Christmas, Garret,” I greeted him then gave him a hug.

He hugged me back. “Merry Christmas, Melanie.”

Lillian awwwed behind us. “You two are so cute together! Let me get my camera.”

“No, no. There’s no need for that,” I quickly said, now blushing with embarrassment.

“You two have a good time,” Alexander said, smiling as he snaked his arm around Lillian’s waist. They, too, look cute together.

“Thanks, Alexander,” I replied. “We’ll be going now. It’ going to be a long day.”

“Goodbye! Take care, you two.” Lillian waved her hand as Garret and I stepped out of their house.

“So what do you have for me?” Garret asked casually, enveloping my hand with his as we walked to his car. “My gift for you is inside my car.”

I smiled. “I’ll give your gift later.”

“Is it another dance in the rain?”

I laughed. “Nope,” I said, popping the p. “But it will surely happen during nightfall.”

            “Wait. Making—”

“There you go again,” I interrupted, chuckling as I bumped my hip to his. “Seriously. Sometimes, I really think you’re perverted.”

He shrugged carelessly. “What? I’m a guy.”

            “And that’s a good thing. I don’t want to be a lesbian.”

He opened the car door for me and gestured with his hands, grinning like stupid. “Good day, m’lady,” he told me with a fake British accent.
