M a r a e h o n e y b e l l a
After what felt like forever, Grandma finally came back with what seemed like an unreadable expression. But I knew that look. Something was wrong.
I felt my heart sink a little as I watch her move to my Mother and whisper something in her ear.
This couldn't be good.
Mom got up within a few seconds and followed Grandma out of the lobby; around the corner.
Sighing, I also got up.
I guess I should look for Aaronzé, he's been gone long enough.
I hadn't seen him for at least half an hour.
Where was he?
Trey sat twiddling his thumbs, probably waiting for mom and grandma to come back.
I can't leave him here by himself..
"Mae," I heard a voice call.
I turned on my heel to Terrence's worried face.
"Is Grandaddy gonna die..?" His eyes were glassy.
I hate this.
I walk over to him silently and squat down to speak to him.
"No, no Trey," I wipe under his eye, "He's not gonna die." Terrence held out his hand, and extended his finger. "Pinky promise?"
