I look around myself quickly

I look around myself quickly. The sound of heartbeats now stopped entirely.  I turn my head quickly to the right, and lay eyes on the figure next to me.

      Frozen in place, short body—

Her scent reached my nose; Marae. She looked terrified. Her eyes wide, questions probably scrambling her mind in this frozen second.

What if she finds out who I am?

This was all she needed to confirm that. I basically spider-monkeyed up the elevator shaft with her on my back. And I'm supposed to be acting human.

"Ahem."

In the middle of this scene, was a tall God dressed in a suit, "Like what I've done with the place?"

He walks my way, scanning the room of people now frozen in place.

"What the fuck do you want Spade?"

"You have always shown to be good at sniffing out illusions.." He sighed.

"Why are you doing this?" The words came out harshly.

He gives me a long and hard stare. His arms came uncrossed, "Humans and protectors do not consort, or did you forget that part of the law?"

        A sigh escapes my lips.

"I cannot continue to allow laws in my realms to just be broken—"

I spoke over him,  "Marae isn't—"

"She is human," He overrides, "Even if her blood isn't fully human, the magic is dormant. She is reduced to basic mortality, and that makes her of no use to you," He says, peering down at me, "She is a distraction."

"I ain't tryna hear this bullshit."

His face changed when I said that, it went blank almost immediately. Good, now he knows I'm angry.

"I'm in charge of this whole territory Spade," I told him, "My Katt's run this bitch. Half of the country's land belongs to me."

Spade blinks, not giving that thought another second to linger.

"I'm cutting your supply in half then."

"Half?" I raise an eyebrow, "If you cut half I'll have to turn people to make soldiers, and they won't take loyalty, they would rather payment."
