TYLER

My mind began to race and my heart sank.

No... we can't be too late... Ethan can't be dead! There has to be something we can do!

I looked around, at all of my friends who were just as speechless and filled with emotion as I was. This scene was all too familiar with me now and it has happened too many times. It should have only happened once. When I was supposed to die back when I was in the hospital. I didn't ask to become a ghoul, even though Ethan wanted me to live. But I know Ethan did not ask to become human either. Everything has become chaos ever since our lives changed.

It's time for it to be the way it was before.

I knelt down next to Ethan's body, just looking at it. His face was pale and lifeless. I then looked at his neck and shoulder. I couldn't help but touch mine. The wounds from both my neck and shoulder were both still there.

I knew what I had to do. I knew for a fact nobody would like what I was going to do, but it was the only way to save Ethan.

Maybe... I should tell them...

I didn't. Without any hesitation I went and bit down on Ethan's shoulder, sucking as much poison out of his body as I possibly could, hoping I could save him.

MARK

I noticed Tyler quickly leaning over and biting Ethan's neck. Amy and Kathryn were both trying to stop him, trying to pull Tyler away from Ethan. But he didn't move. I didn't move. I just stood there and watched. I knew exactly what he was doing.

After a couple of minutes, Tyler pulled away from Ethan, taking loud gasps of air.

"Somebody, try and start CPR! Get a machine or something!" Tyler shouted.

Kathryn and Amy immediately ran for an AED machine that was on the wall. I looked over at Tyler, who was hunched over, his hands on his knees, still trying to catch his breath.

I went over, and placed my hand on his shoulder. A moment later, he turned his head towards me. I could see tears filling up in his eyes.

He then immediately hugged me.

"I'm sorry..." Tyler whispered in my ear, trying not to cry. "I had to..."

I hugged him back, trying to keep as much emotion inside of me as possible.

"No..." I choked. "You did the right thing."

Tyler looked at me, his face red from crying. I could feel tears rushing down my cheeks. I was about to lose a friend again. Not a friend, a brother. No matter whether he was human or not.

I couldn't help but hug him again tightly.

As I looked over his shoulder, I could see Amy and Kathryn hooking Ethan up to a machine. I had to help save Ethan. I looked up at Tyler, who gave me a nod. I then went over to Amy and Kathryn.

TYLER

Mark ran over to Amy and Kathryn, helping the two of them with the machine they were going to use to save Ethan. I stood there, watching.

Although, my entire body was slowly starting to become numb, my legs were developing that jelly-like feeling. My stomach was starting to hurt, much worse than a stomachache. It felt like it was going to explode. I started breaking out in a cold sweat, my heart beginning to pound out of its chest harder than it ever could. The sound pounding in my ears.

I tried my best not to show any sign of what was going on with me. I wanted to focus on Ethan, to try and see any signs of him breathing.

"STAND BACK!"

The three of them stood back away from Ethan as a shock was delivered to his body. His body quickly jolting before going limp again. Amy, Kathryn and Mark quickly went back to look. Nothing yet.

As each minute passed by, as each shock was delivered to Ethan, I could feel my body aching worse and worse. My entire body was growing numb, I could hardly feel my heart beating now, I could hardly concentrate on breathing. I needed just one or two more minutes to keep myself together, to try and at least get a sign that Ethan was alive.

"STAND BACK!"

The three of them moved away from Ethan. A shock delivered to his body, his body jolting slightly before going limp again. Mark, Amy and Kathryn quickly checked on Ethan.

Suddenly, I could hear Amy shouting, but it sounded so faint to me, but it was the words I wanted to hear.

"THERE'S A PULSE!"

I smiled, breathing the last few breaths of relief that I could.

As my vision began to grow blurry, and as my eyes grew heavier and heavier, I gathered up as much strength as I could to try and say one last thing to the group.

"You guys... did it..."

MARK

Amy checked Ethan's pulse. Her jaw dropped and her eyes widened.

"THERE'S A PULSE!" She shouted.

Kathryn, Amy and I felt a huge wave of relief rush over us.

"Alright, call 9-1-1 and let's get the hell out of here!" I said.

As I stood up from where I was, I looked over at Tyler, his face as pale as snow, covered in sweat, and gasping for breath.

"You guys... did it..." He whispered faintly, smiling.

His eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the ground. All of the relief that had just came to me immediately subsided.

"TYLER!" I shouted, running over to his side.

As I knelt down next to him, I could hear him breathing less, and his chest was hardly rising and falling with each breath. Moments later, he became still.

No... no this was too soon... it shouldn't have happened that fast! Tyler can't be gone already! We didn't even get to say goodbye!

I looked up at Amy and Kathryn. Kathryn coveting her mouth in shock, tears filling her eyes, and Amy trying to remain calm while staying on the phone with 9-1-1.

"Get Ethan, and get him outside." I told them through my sobbing.

As soon as Amy got off the phone, she quickly went and helped Kathryn carry Ethan out of the room.

I looked down at Tyler one last time.

"I'm so sorry Tyler... but I'm also proud of you... thank you..."

I hesitated, but I stood up and walked out of the room and into the hallway. I decided to take one last look into the room, before going down the hallway and meeting up with Kathryn and Amy.
