Imagine: it's an extremely hot day and Thorin allows the Company to stop by a lake to cool down and rest for a few hours. They all go swimming. Alex, also hesitant, eventually joins them which leaves her in a pair of cut shorts and a vest top - this allowd the group to see her questionable scars.

Alex's P.O.V

It was official. Today had to be the hottest day of the entire damn year!! Whilst the company were forced to carry on, it didn't stop the many - and I mean many - groans and complaints about the heated weather as we walked; we had stopped by every single water source we came acorss in order to refill our canteens, as well as splash ourselves in order to cool down. While we were managing....somehow, I couldn't help but show my concern for Fili as he appeared to be struggling the most; I really hoped he wasn't going to begin to suffer a heat stoke. I knew from personal experience how terrible one of those felt, not to mention how dangerous they were. But Ori had yet to show any signs of concern for her dwarf friend so that was a relief; he would be the first to recognise the symptoms of a heat stroke after all - being the medical one. However, the heat was taking a toll on all of us - including our leader who finally, after taking far too long debating with himself and Balin, declared that we would stop by the large lake that was about a hundred feet up ahead, through some of the trees. It certainly earned a multiple of cheers from his fellow dwarves, as well as Bilbo - I couldn't help but chuckle, though I indeed agreed with their thankful response as I smiled at the thought of taking a break from this damn heat. Upon walking closer to the lake, I noticed how everyone had began to grow excited by the sight of the water - Kili, Fili and Bofur were rubbing their hands together, probably already planning something that will end with both laughs and disapproving glances - they were already earning suspicious looks from Gloin, Bombur, Bifur and Oin. Ori had pulled out his already empty canteen in order to refill and enjoy a refreshing drink, as had his two brothers. Balin and Bilbo, knowing they were going to be able to have some time to sit down, were in the middle of preparing their own smoking pipes. Dwalin and Thorin - of course - were discussing who would stay the most alert and keep an eye out for any possible dangers whilst the others cooled off and rested. I, on the other hand, was focusing on being able to remove the damn rib crusher and bath in the lake, allowing myself to - just for once - enjoy even just an hour of time. Though in order to allow the others to do the same, I decided I was going to volunteer to stay on the path and keep watch; I'm sure Thorin will probably protest but....well I wasn't going to back down and he already knows how stubborn I can be. A asset I am proud to be.

"Alright!! We're here!!" Thorin declared as we finally stopped beside the lake "we'll stay here and rest for the remainder of the day so enjoy it while you can!!" he added. Learning this earned very positive and relieves reactions of course "now that, we can do!!" Kili stated as he and his brother, as well as Bofur, dropped their bags and weapons down to the ground before beginning to rid themselves of most of their clothes; we all chuckled as the three dwarves, now left in only their trousers which I was thankful they had kept on, rushed forward before jumping up and water bombing into the lake. Laughing, I watched as Gloin, Nori, Dori and Bifur were splashed by the large waves that the three had most likely purposely created during the amusing dive; they yelled out the three mischievous dwarves before quicking following suit, determined to take their revenge on their friends. I watched as most of the dwarves - I reassured Thorin that I would take first watch so that he could join - all eventually end up in only their trousers and in the river, beginning a water fight with one another; Bilbo and Balin did the same, only they sat on the edge where they could dip their legs into the water as they smoked their pipes. I couldn't help but laugh fondly before noticing that they had literally dropped all of their belonging to the floor in order to rush into the river as well; I shook my head, though with a smile, as I began to kneel down and collect all of their things. I had noticed a large and very full tree which cast a lovely area of shade - it was the perfect place to sit in this weather; I moved all of the company's things to the shade, folding their clothes and making sure their were a multiple of separate piles with their bags and weapons. Once this was done, I made sure that - when I was sat down with my back leaning against the trunk of the tree - I could see the entire lake, as well as both paths with a head turn; I was grateful that I could. As I returned to my feet, I collected everyone's canteens and approached the lake, kneeling down and began to refill all of the metal bottles; I called out to the company who all turned towards me as I informed them that I would leave their drinks right where I was which earned many 'thank yous'. I did, however, hand Balin and Bilbo their own canteens as they seemed comfortable with where they had seated.
