"Who was that?" I asked Jack at brunch.
"Who was who?" He knew who I was talking about.
"Did you guys know each other?"
His cheeks turned red. "I didn't think I was ever gonna have to explain this."
"Explain what?"
"In seventh grade, before we moved, was when I realized I was gay. And I had a crush on this boy, I don't even remember why. I told my friend-who I thought I could trust-but the boy found out and humiliated me in front of everyone."
"That boy we bumped into...was that your crush."
He nodded. "Yea. His name is Alex."
"Hey guys." Jonah said as him, Daniel, and Corbyn sat down.
"Hey."
"Have you seen the new kid yet?" Daniel asked. Jack and I exchanged a look. "What?"
"I kind of know the kid."
"How?!" They asked at the same time.
"We went to the same middle school." That was all he said.
"So are you guys friends?" Daniel asked. Jonah glared at him.
"No." Jack quickly shook his head.
I frowned and quickly changed the subject. "We should do something after school."
"Like what." The boys asked as Corbyn said, "I can't."
"Why not?"
He blushed and smiled. "I have a date with Christina."
We cheered for him. "Aye finally you grew a pair and asked her out." Jonah clapped him on his back.
Corbyn blushed harder. "Actually she asked me out."
