"Are we running away? Is that what we're doing? I don't wanna run away" I say to Riley while she drags me to the subway, I have no idea where we're going
"Maya would! This should be your idea, not mine!"
"Why do we have all of my clothes?"
"Get on the subway"
"Would you just tell me where we're going?"
"To find you" she drags me there
"All my life, I always wanted to be you, Maya. Remember how we stood here and I put lip gloss on for the first time, because I wanted to be bad like my best friend?" I raise my eyebrows
"Riley, how do you see lip gloss as a bad thing?"
"Lip gloss, kissing. And that's all you taught me"
"Okay, we need to find me as soon as you can"
"Hmm. Remember this is how we met Lucas?"
"Yeah. What were the odds? You could just turn around and there'd a guy like-" We look at a cute guy who smiles and gives us  a 'what's up' head gesture. Awesome, we giggle.

*Matthews' apartment, Elliot's POV*

The cowboy just came in screaming that he finally his decision, it better be Maya or he's done
"You're gonna tell us what you decided or what?" he frowns
"Is no one concerned about Riley and Maya?"
"The girls are fine"
"What'd you decide?"
"Okay, Mr. Matthews, don't you think everyone needs to get their priorities straight?"
Dad points at him while talking to the phone with uncle Shawn
"Hey, you home? Yeah, they're comin' to see ya" he hangs up
"The girls are fine"
"See? Our priorities are straight"
"So now we can talk about something really important, what did you decide?" he sighs and stands up.
"If y'all will excuse me, I'm gonna go the the bay window"
"My sister and Maya aren't even here"
"I'm meeting someone else" I frown
"This is our house!" I guide him to sit down and he looks at Kay
"I care about your daughter very much"
"My daughter now!" Typical mom
"I care about your daughter very much, too" he turns back to Katy
"You know, Maya loves to make fun of me. But then in Texas, she doesn't want to see me get hurt. She get's those feelings from someone, Ms. Hart. And from what I've heard, it isn't her father. You are a wonderful mother" that's true. Katy is a wonderful mother. She raised Maya Hart, a free spirit. A girl who breaks the rules and fights for what she believes in. A girl who cares a lot for her friends, even too much, so much that she won't let them do risky things in case they get hurt. Because she doesn't want them to feel like her, hurt, broken.
"What about me, Chuckie?" Lucas sighs
"I've had it" he leaves to go to the bay window. Mom smiles at Katy
"We are wonderful mothers" I laugh
"Sure y'are. Where are your daughters?"
"We don't know" dad smiles
"They're with Shawn"
"They ran away to Shawn's?"
"I don't think they ran away from anything.  I think they went to find something" I stand up
"Where are you going?"

*At Shawn's cottage, Maya's POV*

Riley knocks the door. I'm glad we're at Shawn's, I still don't know why though. He opens the door
"Hi!" I smile
"Shawn"
"Hey guys. Come on in" we get inside his cottage. It's lovely
"Nice move, Maya. Runnin' away, comin' here. Somethin' I would do"
"It wasn't my idea"
"What?" he points at RIley
"You did this?"
"Yeah, how 'bout that? Maya, Tell him why we're here" I refuse to, it's too embarassing
"I don't wanna tell him"
"You came all this way. Tell me" he hands us some tea
"You made us tea?"
"Yeah! And I got these Swedish butter cookie" Great! I love them
"What's become of you?" What does she mean?
"I'm evolving. It's uh, it's actually been quite a journey. I like who I am" he looks out of the window
"Look! Mountains! And trees! So many trees! Oh, and there's that squirrel that I talk to!"
"Uncle Shawn, my best friend is broken, and you did it" he raises his eyebrows
"Me?"
"I need it to be you, because if it isn't you, then it's me, and I don't want it to be me, so it needs to be you!"
"Hey, why are you broken?"
"Remember how I was tough and edgy?"
"Yeah"
"Remember how I was just like you?"
"Yeah! I was tough and edgy!" he sips a little bit of his cookies and I chuckle
"Why do you have tea and Swedish butter cookies?"
"I don't know what you people like! Why are you my fault?"
"There can't be two Rileys, just like there can't be two Mayas. For the world to work, there needs to be one Riley and one Maya"
"I know that language. That's Topanganese"
"She's right"
"Is she? What happens when you meet a good influence and they start to change you for the better?"
"That's when your art teacher says you're incomplete"
"Yeah. Tell me about it. I know, because I had a good influence"
"You're incomplete?"
"Look, you know, when your dad and I first met, all he wanted was to be like me?" The real question is why. Why did he wanted to become like Shawn? He had a great family!
"It was ridiculous that he wanted to be like me. I mean, the guy had a great family" I nod
"Yeah"
"He had parents who were there"
"Yeah"
"And then, Cory met Topanga. Do you know what it's like to go to high school with Romeo and Juliet? Awhh and so, I love Angela, because I thought I was supposed to. Because Cory and Topanga, and they'd influenced me. And it didn't work. I mean, how could it not work? They worked. Then they had your brother and you, and I couldn't catch up. So I don't have any of that. I've got trees. And that squirrel I talk to. Cory Matthews messed up my life"
"Yuh-oh" he glares at Riley
"And I'm not gonna let that happen to you because of (referring to Riley) some second-generation Cory Matthews"
"Oh!"
"You're gonna protect me from her?"
"Didn't I say I'd always be there for you?"
"Like Pluto"
"Be quiet, Baby Cory! I didn't meet you 'til I was 32, but you're the reason, Maya, that I believe that I could be a father someday. And that's not because of Cory Matthews, that's my own...what would you call that?"
"Voice! Ya maroons!" yeah, she's the exact copy of Mr. Matthews
"That's your own unique voice saying you care about me. You should listen to it more often"
"Agree with that?"
"Maybe I should. So you came to see me because you've disappeared a little?" I nod
"Then you came to the right place! Let's get you back! First! We will pinpoint the exact moment you stopped being Maya. And then we'll see, it had nothin' to do with me" We empty the bags full of the clothes that he bought me into a table
"Oh, yeah! All those clothes I bought you" he chuckles
"Look at that" I smile and start looking at all the pictures on his wall until a particular one catches my attention: the one taken at my fourteenth birthday, that was a cool day
"That's a cool picture"
"One of my favorites. What were you wishin' for?" I can't tell him that I was wishing for him to date my mom and become my dad.
"Uh, I don't remember" He slightly laughs. I think he understood anyways
"Okay"
"Uncle Shawn, your photos are very beautiful"
"Thank you. All the ones on this wall are extra special to me" I notice another interesting one with him wrapping an arm around mom's shoulders
"Yeah?" I point at it
"What about that one?" he slowly nods
"Lost your voice?"
"I don't think he's lost his voice, Maya. I think he's screaming"
"That was our first date. I know what you were wishing for, Maya. I've wished for the same thing my entire life. I care about your mother. I hope that's okay"
"It's okay"
"Keep going!"
"I like you, too"
"Keep going!"
"I'm I'm very extremely fond of you" I hug him as tight as I can
"Say it!"
"I don't know what comes after that! I'm damaged!" I take a deep breath
"I'm very extremely fond of you, too"
"Say it!" I groan
"You know" We pulls away from the hug
"Uncle Shawn, do you know of any good vintage stores around here?
"No, but, all our stores have had the same stuff on the shelves for 50 years" Riley and I pick up our clothes
"That'll work. All right, let's hear it" I clear my throat
"I'd like to sell all of my clothes, please!"
"That'll do it!"
