It was a really nice day, she was sitting on the grass making funny faces at A-Li who was giggling in response. Whatever Ye Hua was dealing with was making him grumpy and she didn't want that energy. They'd settled into a routine that was reminiscent of the early days of their mortal marriage except they had a son and he had paperwork.

She was honest enough with herself to accept that they could have worked out without his family's interference but he was the crown prince of the nine heavens and he had the shittiest family in both mortal and immortal realms. She felt bad for him but was more concerned in making certain her baby was not exposed to them any more that necessary

"Gu Gu" Mi Gu greeted as he approached.

Bai Qian smiled at him, she knew he had questions but was wise enough not to ask. She hadn't still told her family about A-Li in the six months since Ye Hua had moved in. Everyone speculated it was to move the engagement along and she did not correct them.

"There is an emissary from the nine heavens" He said

"You know where to find Ye Hua. He's grumpy today but you should be fine"

"They asked for you"

"Oh" She felt the anger and pain float back into her mind, she could feel her blood begin to boil so she forced herself to calm down

"Did they say who sent them?"

"Su Jin, the crown prince's consort"

She smiled

"Ask them to tell you whatever message they have or leave the scroll with you. Mi Gu, if anyone comes with messages for me from the nine heavens, that is how you should handle it until I tell you otherwise"

He nodded. She saw the glint in his eye and chuckled. A-Li wasn't the only one that could pick up on her emotions. It was quiet for only a few minutes

"Qian Qian, have some lunch" Ye Hua said as he placed the tray on the grass beside her

"You're always trying to stuff something or the other in my face"

"You never remember to eat otherwise"

She took the bowl and chop sticks from him and immediately started moving things from the bowl to his as had become routine for whenever he tried to feed her which was very often

She caught sight of his chopsticks from the corner of her eyes and frowned as she realized he was simply returning or replacing the items she was dropping in his meal. She slapped at his chopsticks with hers and moved her bowl out of his reach.

He smiled "You don't eat enough. I worry about you. Peaches and Loquats are not meal replacement."

She grinned back "Well I'm not about eating my weight in meat. A-Li likes it when I'm not too stuffed to stroll under the moon with him"

Ye Hua wondered how it was possible for one to be jealous of their own child.

Mi Gu came back

"There's more food in the fox den, you can have some if you want," Ye Hua said to Mi Gu

"Thank you crown prince," he said with a bow then turned to me "Gu Gu, the emissary said that it is inappropriate for you to be living with the crown prince. That although you are engaged, you are not yet married and that you cannot keep the imperial great grandson in Qing Qiu."

"Thank you" She replied and continued eating as Mi Gu left

"Who was that message from?" Ye Hua asked tentatively.

"Your wife"

"My w...? Su Jin?"

"Do you have another wife?"

"Just one but it's not who you think"

"Great, should I expect another emissary from this other woman?"

Ye Hua sighed and scuttled towards her until his arms were touching hers

"Qian Qian, you're my only wife. "

She started to talk but his finger on her lips stopped her

"Heavenly lord issued a decree that Su Jin would be a Xiwu palace consort in exchange for the soul gathering lamp that woke me up. I never married her not even as a ceremony. I have never and will never love her."

"Are you sure she knows that? You're not exactly the best at putting words to your emotions and I'm certain a lot of people told me you were both in love. Su Jin included"

Ye Hua smiled mischievously and she got worried. She'd seen that smile on A-Li's face a couple of times; just before he aimed a stream of urine at something he shouldn't.

She inched away from him and he inched closer, he put his head on her shoulder and sighed

"Ye Hua ..."

"Qian Qian, you're the only woman I've ever loved. I will only ever love you"

At a loss for words, she focused on her food
