[Writer's note]

Mark and Sean (Jack) live in LA and Ireland respectively. By this point in the story, they have each started a YouTube channel and are about to find each other over social media. Sean is 27, Mark is 28 and they are only a few months apart in age.

On with the story.

It was late-ish in the evening when Sean finished recording his video for the day. He yawned and got to work on editing his video. He still hadn't gotten around to finding an editor for his videos, so he figured he'd do that when he woke up tomorrow. Though, he has said that to himself every night for the past 3 months. He reviewed his content and cut out some of the dead footage, then posted the video.

"Same old thing every day.." He moaned to himself and scrolled through Twitter. He decided to follow a YouTuber named Markiplier after watching one of his videos. "Hm, seems kinda funny. Don't see why I wouldn't." He thought to himself nonchalantly. Then he found himself watching another video, and another, and another. It had gone 2 am before he had realised that he'd been watching YouTube all night.

"Ugh get off your lazy butt Sean and go shower." He grunts to himself under his breath and puts his phone on his bed. He had a brisk shower and he would occasionally laugh to himself, remembering something funny Markiplier had said in one of his videos. He found that looking at Markiplier's purple hair made him laugh more. It was like it totally enhanced Mark's personality.

"Maybe I should try that?" Sean thought to himself, debating on which colour to try. It seemed that since his channel mascot was Sam the green septic eye, he should dye his hair green to match.

He decided it could wait till tomorrow, and dried himself down, changed into some pajamas, and went to sleep.

Meanwhile, in Los Angeles, California...

"Hello everybody, my name is Markiplier, and today we will be trying this highly recommended horror game called Five Nights at Freddy's!" Mark started, staring brightly at the camera and he brushed his purple hair away from his eyes. He knew that he needed it to be cut shortly, but he quite liked it long. He was having a bit of a dilemma.

He recorded the video gleefully and nearly had a heart attack with each jumpscare. Recording this, however, meant he knew he would be getting noise complaints from the neighbors and most likely his girlfriend. After several hours of shouting and screaming at some virtual animatronics, he finally finished the game and published the video of the first night on YouTube. There was an almost immediate response from fans. Clearly, people enjoyed this game.

As Mark was scrolling through the comments, he started to see a recurring pattern of one name in particular. 'Hey mark! have u heard of jacksepticeye? hes just like you. you should check him out.' and 'are u copying jack?' but soon he was engulfed in many people mentioning whoever this 'JackSepticEye' person was. He became curious. I wonder if he has a social media profile? He thought to himself. I pulled up Twitter and searched 'JackSepticEye' and noticed the follows you tag next to his name. Mark felt flattered that this dude was following him, though he had no clue who this guy was. He decided to check this guy's YouTube channel...

"TOP O' THE MORNIN' TO YA LADDIES, MY NAME IS JACKSEPTICEYE!" boomed through Mark's headphones He immediately paused the video and turned the volume down for sake of his eardrums. What the fuck. How does he do that without killing his throat? Mark thought. He proceeded to watch the whole video and found himself laughing a fair bit at Jack's content. After the video ended, Mark was grinning ear to ear and decided to watch another while editing his own videos, using a similar technique to Jack's. He thought Jack was hilarious. Mark knew what he needed to do; he had to contact Jack and see what kind of person he was.
