Chapter 7

"Well mother I'll have you know, guess who's working on Christmas?" I say to her as I stepped out of the hospital and into the very cold air.

"You I assume"

"Yes and Amelia" I sigh.

"Well it's a night shift is it not?" She asks. I hum. "We'll think of something"

"I'm gonna go ahead and sleep now mom"

"Alright, love you dear"

"Love you too"I say. Thankfully the hospital wasn't to far from Amelia and I's apartment. It was cold out this morning so I had grabbed my big winter coat, my hands were now safely deep in my pockets. I kept my head down as I crossed the street and lifted it up when most of the wind was being blocked by the buildings.

I was about to pass a group of guys smoking and decided to then keep my head down again, they did not look like the group of guys I wanted to mess with or even make eye contact with either of them.

"Hey sexy!" One Of then calls, I roll my eyes and keep my head down. "You look cold! I can warm you up" the same boy yells. Suddenly I hear a siren go off. I lift my head up.

"I'd suggest you'd leave this lady only fellows"I turn around to see Leo leaning against his cop car, I stifle a laugh as I see him with his arms crossed and classic Ray Band sunglasses on.

"Oh yea what you about to do?" One guy asks, the cop car does a quick beep of his siren and I realize the person in the drivers seat was Finley.

I watch as Leo takes his sunglasses off and pushes off the car, walking over to me now. "You really want me to answer that question?" He asks the guys, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him. My body was suddenly warming up from his body heat.

The group of guys eye us "now I suggest you boys head in before me and my partner do something that gets us suspended"Leo says. Finley beeps the siren again.

"Fine we're leaving"they say and I watch them leave.

"Thanks"I let out a sigh and look to Leo.

"Your just lucky I'm on a stakeout right in front of your work"he smirks, his sunglasses now on.

"Well aren't I lucky" he pulls me closer to him, wrapping both arms around me. "But thank you" he smiles down at me.

"I'd offer to walk you the rest of the one block but I can't leave my post"he sighs.

"No no it's fine"I tell him "you should go back into the car, you clearly will get sick" I tell him and he laughs.

"Yes ma'am. I'll bring you dinner when you wake up" he says.

"Hmm sounds good to me"I smile up at him. He leans down and presses his lips to me. Making me realize I was no longer cold at all. A knock from inside his squad car and we pull away. The window rolls down a bit.

"Hi Fin"I mumble, my cheeks heating up.

"Hey Julie. Leo we gotta go"He nods.

"Be careful heading home"Leo says.

"Will do handsome" I smile and we kiss quickly before I pull away and he slides into the squad car.

"Well sadly, I work on Christmas"I tell Leo as I drape my legs over his lap.

"Even Amelia?" He asks me, massaging my calf. I hum. "Well if you think that's worse, I work New Years Eve"I chuckle "it'll be my first one so"

"Bummer"I joke.

"Why?" He chuckles "wanted to kiss me on New Year's Eve?" He asks.

"What if I wanted to? Is that a crime?" I ask, sitting up now and wrap my arm around his shoulder as I pull my legs underneath me and lean into him.
