Nora's POV- August 2019

"Want to go halfsies on a margarita?"

I looked away from the game when I felt a light tap on my shoulder.

"I can't" I answered.

Mady pouted.

"Why not?"

"Cody and Chris didn't carpool today, so I have to drive back" I replied.

She sighed.

"That's a valid excuse"

It was not the reason as to why I couldn't drink alcohol though.

"Do you work tomorrow?"

I nodded as I reached for my bottled water.

"Besides the weekend, when is your next day off?"

"I get next Thursday off" I answered.

It also happened to be Chris' 29th birthday.

"Do you get Labor day off?"

I nodded.

"Then why aren't you coming on the trip?"

"I'm okay" I assured her.

"Are you sure?"

She pouted when I nodded.

"I was really looking forward to celebrating the fact that you got engaged and married!"

I smiled as she pressed her hand on my shoulder, and shook me.

"You enjoy your time there," I said.

"We're celebrating when I get back"

She pointed her perfectly manicured fingernail at me.

"Of course" I answered.

I looked away from her when I smelled, the deadly garlic fries.

"Can you take care of my bag while I go to the bathroom real quick?" I asked her.

She nodded.

"Yeah, of course. Are you okay?"

"There's this infused water station in our office, and I may have gone a bit overboard today," I told her.

She laughed as I stood up.

"I'll be right back," I said before making my way up the stairs.

Once I was at the top, I heard,
