Thirty-Nine

Nora's POV- October 2019

After grabbing my purse from the office, I made my way out. Much to my surprise, I found Dom seated in the empty waiting room. He stood up when he noticed me and made his way over.

"Where's your car?"

"Chris has it" I replied as he leaned down to give me a hug.

"So how are you getting home...or to the Stadium?"

My phone chimed.

"One of his teammate's girlfriend's is picking me up" I answered.

He nodded.

"I'll wait with you"

As we made our way out of the office, I pulled my phone from my purse to see I had a text from Sonia, Alex's girlfriend.

Here!

"There she is" I said.

"I'll walk you there"

Sonia's car slowly pulled up to the drop-off/pick up area. By the looks of it, she too had just gotten out of work. As she got out of the car, I turned to Dom.

"Let's get lunch tomorrow?" I asked.

"Yeah, what are you craving at the moment?"

"Chinese food" I replied.

He smiled.

"We can go to that restaurant like two streets down?"

"Okay," I agreed.

"I'll text you then"

I nodded and smiled at Sonia as she stepped forward for a hug.

"It's so nice to see you! Congratulations by the way, I'm sorry I couldn't make it to the Stadium on Sunday"

She was in Aliso Viejo visiting her parents.

"It's okay, you were with your family" I answered.

"Alex Facetimed me, but it's not the same"

Dom cleared his throat getting our attention.

"Right, Sonia this is my cousin Dominic. Dom, this is Sonia" I introduced.

They shook hands.

"I'll walk away once you're in the car" 

Sonia laughed.

"Come on now, Nori"

He opened the door for me and as Sonia went around, I turned around when I heard a whimper.

"Hey" I greeted little Drew.

"Hi"

I stretched out my hand and smiled as he gently squeezed my finger.

"How are you?" I asked.

Dom closed the door as Sonia sat down next to me.

"I want to go home"

Same buddy, same.

"I want mommy"

I looked at Sonia who scrunched up her nose.

"Cody is taking him for the night"

"His sister is in town" I noted.

She pursed her lips.

"I don't think Carol knows that"

"Carol couldn't make it to the game?" I asked.

"She didn't want to deal with Jennifer and Clara"
