Peter looked at you sat next to MJ on the plane in the aisle next to him, caught up in conversation.

There was no doubt in his mind that the two of you were talking about murder, maybe the black dahlia or another unsolved murder even though he couldn't hear all the details of the riveting conversation due to the planet taking off. The black dahlia had fascinated you for so long, Peter knew that. You had rambled off the details of the case to him countless times and when Peter first told you he didn't really know anything about it, you made him watch the episode of Buzzfeed Unsolved about it. No matter how many times you told him about it, he found himself just as intrigued as if it was the first time he ever heard of it.

He was sat next to Ned, who was trying to get him to play PC games. Peter couldn't find it in him to focus on the games, however. He was too focused on you. The two of you had only been dating for a little under a year and even though you were young, Peter was sure he was in love with you and he had a plan to tell you in Paris on top of the Eiffel Tower.

He wasn't really sure how to describe it, but he knew it. He loved the way you rambled on into details about various murders and got really into it. He loved the way your eyes lit up when you saw him, the way you curled into his touch. He knew you were guarded. He knew you built up walls to keep him out but that they slowly crumbled down when he poked his cute, dorky face into your life. Originally you were gonna try to just ignore him, maybe if you ignored him long enough he would just leave you alone.

But Peter was persistent. He approached you each day, asking and offering to walk you to class. Slowly but surely, he began to break down your walls.

The two of you quickly became friends, walking to classes and eating lunch together whenever you could. MJ and Ned could see that the two of you really liked each other, but were too scared to do anything about it until Peter finally mustered up enough courage to ask you out one morning by your locker.

Your eyes immediately widened upon hearing the question fall from his lips and before either of you could say anything, you bolted in the opposite direction to find MJ.

"I think you should give it a shot." She told you when you ran up to her. "It's kind of obvious that you like him too."

"Yeah but...what if we break up?" You asked, your voice soft.

"Then you break up. Shit happens. That's not a reason to avoid Peter." She shrugged as you walked to class.

You sighed, a small frown on your face as you contemplated what to do.

You ended up finding Peter at the end of the day, approaching him nervously, fiddling with your fingers.

"Peter?" Your voice was so soft he almost missed it. "I'm sorry about earlier I-"

"Y/N, it's fine I get it. You don't wanna go out. It's cool, we can still be friends." He smiled sadly.

"No Peter that's not it." You took a deep breath, reminding yourself that you had to vulnerable and tell Peter how you felt. "I really like you. I'm just scared. I've never been in a relationship before and I don't want to lose you if we were to break up."

Peter felt his heart beat wildly in his chest at your confession. Usually you didn't share anything major about your feelings with Peter but now that you did, he found you all the more incredible.

He hadn't realized it had been a solid minute before your voice ripped him from his thoughts.

"Peter?" You looked panicked, as if you had said the wrong thing. "Um, maybe I should go."
