Victoria Strauss’s POV

I stared blankly at the sight of the buildings along the road from the window. I was in Adam’s Lamborghini right now and my hiccup still doesn’t stop.

I hiccup whenever I am too afraid of something. I was born like that. I can’t control it like I can’t control my own fear. 

Oliver left me right after he talked to me a little. He said he is going to marry me on my upcoming birthday. Didn’t mom say that she will give me a chance until next year? 

“Um… my queen, I need to know your address. We had been around this city for 2 times.”Adam said breaking the silence in the car. I looked at his sapphire eyes and we had been staring into each other eyes until I looked away as I can feel my cheeks were getting warmer. 

“My*hiccup* house *hiccup*…”

“Wait. Here’s your bag. Just type it on your phone.”He said as his hand went to the back of our seat and brought my black leather bag to me. I rummaged my bag and grabbed my phone to type my address on the phone. As I finished typing, I showed it to him. He just nodded and went back his attention to his drive. 

Adam found me crying on the bench after Oliver left me. I don’t know why I cried but I was disappointed at myself for still cowering at him. Let me tell you my history with Oliver Evans Blake.

Oliver and his family were my old neighbors. We had been best friends since we were kids. We were always together even at school. And being a naïve and innocent person I was, I realized that I had a big crush on Oliver. He was the most popular guy in high school while I am just a nerd. Tanya and Valerie knew my feeling at Oliver but they opposed it. I didn’t want to get mad at them so I didn’t say anything at them. They are the only students who wanted to approach me and I didn’t want to break our friendship over a guy so I kept my feeling from him. 

Until one day I can’t keep it anymore. My feeling at him was getting stronger and stronger and I knew that I was completely in love at Oliver Evans Blake. I confessed my feeling to him when I was 15 without telling to Tanya and Valerie first. I knew that they were going to get mad because they always warned me that Oliver is dangerous but I ignored them. Unexpectedly, my confession was being accepted by him and I officially became his girlfriend that day but no one knew our relationship since I didn’t want Tanya and Valerie or even the whole students to know about it. We acted like normal when we were in school but became a lovebird outside the school. 

After a month, Oliver started to show his real self. He became more possessive and he doesn’t like the idea of me with other guy and even staring at other guy. At first, I found it cute but his over-possessiveness became worse and he even beat me up as a warning to not to be with other guy.

Neil found out about the bruises on my stomach and they had a fight that day and of course, Neil beat him into pulp because he was in the boxing club. Neil started to become more protective on me and even threatened Oliver to shoo him away from me. But that only last for a year since Neil graduated high school and went out from the town to study in a college.

 Before he left me, he had taught me to defend myself so that I can protect myself from Oliver. But I never use that to defend myself from him as he moved out of the town after Neil left. 

Now I already told you guy about my dark past. Now you will know why I always get scared or flipped Adam because he reminds me of what Oliver has done to me.

Now, he came back and he will marry me soon. I was too scared to face him again and I can’t have Neil to protect me from him again.

I was snapped from my thought as I felt my shoulder was being shaken by someone.
