Stepping into her apartment complexes parking garage, Serenity felt the weight of the world on her shoulders. The pair had spent the rest of the evening at a sushi bar stuffing their belly with food and cocktails. The usual calm silence was now haunting to Serenity and she quickly grabbed her gun and placed it onto her waistband. Grabbing her purse from the backseat, she closed and locked the door.
As she advanced towards the elevator she kept her eyes on her surroundings and her hand on her gun. The ringing of her phone made her nearly hop from her skin. Taking a deep breath she opened her purse and dug inside for the sleek iPhone.
Lucas' name flashed across her screen for a second before the ringing stopped. Before she could unlock the phone, his name flashed once more.
"Don't move." A husky voice whispered in her ear and Serenity felt her stomach hop to her throat. She quickly declined the call knowing Lucas would think that was odd as she always answered his calls.
"Throw the phone and purse to your left." Serenity could feel the cold metal of a gun against the nape of her neck.
"Okay. Okay. You can have anything, I won't fight you." She calmly said as she slowly raised her hands and let the purse and phone drop to her left. Using her foot she kicked it far away from her, hoping the man would go for it instead of her.
"Now get in the elevator." Her blood ran cold at the request.
"I gave you my purse. My debit card is in there. You won't need a pin and there's $300 dollars in the mint container." She insisted trying to get the man to pay attention to the purse once more.
He pushed the gun further into her neck cause her head to bow in an attempt to get away from the ache.
"I said walk. Now! Go!" The stranger used his hand to pushed her forward.
"Alright! Okay, I'll walk. Just...calm down." Her mind now raced with ways to get the gun away from her neck long enough for her to grab her own weapon. As she slowly shuffled towards the elevator, she twisted her head slightly to see if the man kept tension between the gun and her neck.
"Don't! Don't move again or I'll shoot. Do you understand that?" Although the man spoke calmly, Serenity had never been more frightened. Her footsteps ceased as her body locked with fear. Caught off guard, the man slightly brushed against her backside, his arm going slack to ease the uncomfortable angle.
Serenity took it as her moment to act and quickly spun around, raising one arm to push the gun away while her other drew her own from her holster. She locked her hand around the man's wrist and held the barrel of the gun away from her. Pushing the barrel of her own between his eyes, she quickly took the safety off and placed her finger on the trigger.
"Wait! Wait! Stop!" The man cried out as he dropped his weapon. He was younger than she expected, with brown hair and blonde highlights. The green in his eyes shined with fear as tears gathered at the rims.
"I-I- some dude told me to come in here and get you in the elevator. He gave me $1,000 I swear I wasn't going to hurt you, please stop!" He squeezed his eyes shut as he held his free hand above his head.
"Who? What are you talking about?" Before the boy could answer, a pair of arms wrapped around Serenity. One followed her own to her weapon, pulling the trigger before she could move her arm. The boys blood spewing across her face before his body crumpled to the ground.
A scream escaped her as the other hand roughly pulled her hair. Struggling against the arm, she tried to get the weapon out of the persons reach, their grip on her hair pulling her head completely back.
"Get the fuck off of me!" She screamed while kicking her leg back hoping to hit the man in the balls. Freeing her other hand from the, now dead, boys wrist she reached back and stuck her fingers in the persons eyes.
"Puttana!" The growl egged her on as she continued to buck against the person. She threw her body back against the hardened chest of her attacker, using the small window of space now created to twist her body away from his. She wanted to scream as she felt her sew in pulling at her real hair but kept moving until it finally pulled away from her head.
With her head now free, she looked up to see the last face she ever wanted to see. Angelo Costello. Knowing there was no way she would probably make it out of this alive, she pressed down on the trigger of her gun, firing bullets rapidly.
Car alarms and the sound of breaking glass filled the garage as she tried to keep the weapon aimed away from herself.
"Stop it!" He shouted as he tried to get the weapon out of her hands. Making sure to keep track of the rounds being let off, she held a firm grip on the weapon and continued to fire. As the last round fired, she quickly pulled her hands away from the weapon, his pushing of her hands aiding her in completely separating herself from him.
Without a look back, she booked it to the stairwell as fast as her legs could carry her. Making sure to zig zag as she was sure Angelo would be carrying a gun of his own.
"Fire! Fire!" Her voice broke as she screamed at the top of her lungs. The training she received helped her realize that people responded quicker to a cry of a fire than a cry for help. The shrill sounds of the multiple car alarms overpowered her cries yet she continued on as she pushed herself to run even faster.
Angelo wrapped an arm around her waist and snatched her back into his chest, effectively knocking the wind out of her.
"Merda! Dovrei ucciderti!" He pulled her gasping form into the elevator and hit her floor number. Serenity couldn't bring herself to fight anymore. She closed her eyes and said a prayer for the boy and herself.
He unlocked her door and laid her against the couch. Running into the kitchen she opened the silverware drawer and pulled out her knives.
"Aye! Stop!" He called after her before she began throwing the knives at his face. Angelo quickly rolled out of the way of the rain of knives and hid behind her couch.
"Leave me the fuck alone!" She screamed, her voice now partially gone from her previous screaming. "The police will be here soon! You need to leave me alone."
"You and I both know I don't fear those pigs, bella. So why don't you stop throwing knives and let's talk!" He called from behind the couch. Serenity waited for him to peak his head out before she threw another knife.
"Talk? Go fuck yourself, Angelo!" Reaching for another knife, she looked down to find the drawer empty.
"I'd much rather you do that for me, tesoro!" Angelo smirked as he looked over the top of the couch only to quickly duck once more as a drawer came flying over his head. Crashing into the glass coffee table, shards of glass flew across the small living room.
"You're sick! Absolutely sick!" She tried to scream as she unplugged her coffee machine and threw it towards the couch as hard as she could. Angelo felt the back of the couch jostle as something roughly struck right where his head sat.
"Don't make me come from behind this couch, bella! You won't like me very much if I have to." He warned as he peaked over the top once more. Serenity nearly rolled her eyes so hard they popped out of her head.
"Like you? Angelo, this whole fucking city hates you! There's nothing more people would want to see than your head on a platter! You're going to rot in the deepest pits of hell and people like me will throw the biggest party when you finally croak!" Serenity had her eyes closed as she screamed out in frustration. Angelo took this as his opening and quickly sprung over the couch and into the kitchen.
Before she could pick up the blender next to her, he grabbed her wrists and held them behind her back. Serenity twisted her body in an attempt to get away from his restraints, throwing her knees and feet wildly.
"Get the fuck off me, Angelo!"
"You keep making demands as if you're the one in control right now." The calmness of his tone made Serenity want to strangle him. He smirked down at her watching her face scrunch in frustration. Gathering as much spit in her throat as possible, Serenity drew her head back before spitting in his face.
"Fuck you." She growled watching him grit his teeth as he stood in shock, her spit sliding down his face.
"You're lucky I like you, tesoro, or you'd be receiving the same treatment as your friend in the garage. Now come on we have to go."
