Chapter 10: Outside

Everybody is on edge. I need to think of a way to turn it off and fast. I take another look at it, summarizing every part.
Okay, so there is a yellow, orange and blue button on top of it. At the bottom is something written, but it is too old for me to decipher. It can be any color. If I make a mistake by pressing the wrong button I could blow us all out of here instantly. What do I do?

The wind starts to howl again and the fan begins to turn quicker.

"Figured it out yet?!" Lido is getting impatient.
"Please hurry!" Mana pleads from behind him, though she sounded less impatient and more fearful than him.

My eyes keep skipping over the panel. What am I missing? There's got to be something!
I don't have time to figure it out! I just need to guess. Yellow, orange or blue.

The howling becomes deafening to our ears. I panic and push a random button which turns out to be the blue button. However, the blades didn't slow down, but turn faster and faster. Since we are right in front of it, we get pushed back by the increasing wind. I can no longer reach the panel with the buttons anymore, so I wait with tension, hoping the fan will stop.

''Please stop.'' I beg.

When we thought all hope was lost, we see the fan slow down and eventually stops turning. With a big sigh, I turn around and see the two of them proudly smiling back at me.

"You did it man!" Lido claps me on the back with a rewarding pat.
''Good job Ziro! How did you figure out which button was the right one?'' Mana asks curious.
''Let's keep that one a secret.'' I answer, covering the big bet I just made.

Now that the fan is completely still, I look for a way to get through it. I pull one of the iron blades towards me to get it off. I hear a loud creak as I move it an inch, but I am not strong enough to make it budge. The place is too narrow to switch places with Lido to pull it off. Lido sees me struggling and starts to push me.

''Let me try! I can get it off easily!'' Lido suggests filled with confidence.
''Stop pushing me Lido! It's too small in here for that!'' He pushes me right against the fan. The creaking becomes louder.
''Urg, fine!'' Lido sounds displeased.

Suddenly, an idea in me sparked. ''No, wait. Try pushing me against it again. Maybe we can do it if you push my back!''
"Uh, okay?" Lido was nonplussed by my request.
"Then I will try to push Lido forward!" Mana then adds confidently.

With Lido and Mana pushing me against the fan, the blade begins to creak and squeak louder and louder. Until finally, one of the blades breaks right off and falls outside.

''Nice job guys!'' I tell them. At last, we can see where this vent leads to.

I peek through the opening the blade made to see how high up we are. It is a high drop, but not really that dangerous.
