[Author's note: Just a little titbit to wind things down.]

Ming was racking his brain for places Yo might have gone in the middle of the night. When they'd parted ways at the hospital his friend had seemed fine but he had not made it home. There was something bothering Yo and Ming thought they had settled it but clearly that wasn't the case.

While Ming was trying to get through to Yo for the umpteenth time, Kit had dialled Beam's number.

"Hello...?" Beam sounded bright and clear when he answered the call after only two rings.

"Thank goodness. I was worried that I'd catch you sleeping." Kit said apologetically

"I'm on the night shift tonight." Beam explained and both Kit and Ming nodded in understanding even though the other man couldn't see them. "It's not yet completely insane around here."

"You know you never say things like that...you might jinx it." Kit admonished and the two doctors laughed in commiseration. It was a myth they were all too familiar with. The emergency room didn't need to be crazy because of a jinx. Any night shift had the potential to go wrong at any moment with little or no involvement from the doctors on call.

"What's up?" Beam finally asked when Kit didn't immediately follow up his late night greeting.

"Have you by chance heard from Nong'Yo?"

"Nong'Yo...uhhh no. Wait...Moh'Pha is calling. Can I call you back?"

"That's okay. He's just going to ask you the same question since he called here looking for him."

"He needs to get better at holding his man...after all this time." Beam said with a chuckle and hang up before Kit could respond. It was true. But Kit had a feeling their relationship was built on a more volatile substructure. They'd get bored if things were all settled.

He on the other hand loved the peace and quiet. Kit was looking at Ming getting dressed and knew his husband wouldn't let the matter drop until he was sure Yo was alright. But Ming had no idea where he was going to look. "Why don't we wait for Ai'Pha to get back to us? You might find yourself running in cross purposes to him."

"I just...I hated seeing Ai'Yo so upset." Ming explained.

"I know. But this is between them. I know they will sort it out. Just...come back to bed."

Ming looked reluctant but he eventually went to sit by Kit's side. "Thank you."

"For what?"

"Being understanding. Being here...with me. Just...I love you." Ming said out of the blue and Kit just smiled happily the feeling his words invoked reminding him why he was the luckiest man on the planet.

Kit's phone rung while he was contemplating an appropriate answer to Ming's impromptu confession. He picked it up immediately. Knowing Ming would be interested in the conversation he put it on speaker phone. "It looks like Moh'Pha found his man."
