Violet's POV

I sat on the kitchen island, eating the rocky road ice cream Jay had picked up for me at the store. It was the middle of the night, almost everyone was asleep. Except Silver who patrolled right outside of the house in his beast form, and Axel who was deeper in the woods out of eye sight. Silver's beast was the color of a knife blade, and just as deadly. He reminded me of a lion with his thick mane, but the tail with what appeared to be a blade of some kind on the end told me he was not your average lion. I knew from run ins with him, he had the ability to become invisible, clothes and all. It made him the perfect spy.

I went back to looking at my rocky road ice cream. My nail polish only remained in specs here and there, most of it having chipped off. I knew if I looked in the mirror my sandy blonde roots would be showing as well, the vibrant purple would now be very faded and probably sickly looking. Used too I cared about how I looked to others, never wanting to be confused for my twin sister Aqua. She is the pride and joy of the family, but she never let that go to her head. Instead she stayed kind and honest, always quick to help others. She was also my best friend. She was the one person I knew I could always talk too. The one person I thought knew me better than anyone else. Her last words to me, proved me wrong. She believed the council, and actually thinks I was some power crazy villain. From the sound in her voice I knew she didn't have a single ounce of doubt, that she had absolutely no faith in me whatsoever. So much for sticking together forever.

"That's not healthy," Talos said as he came into the kitchen. I took another bite, "So what?" "Although, yes a warrior to our Queen, you are still human Violet," he said, taking the ice cream from me and putting the lid on it. "I'm aware of that," I said before licking the spoon clean and tossing it in the sink. He sighed as he put it away, "You can drop your guard around me. The Queen accepted you and forgave you for the head butting you two once did, and that's good enough for me." I watched as he washed the spoon I put in the sink. "Not only do we take care of our Queen, but we warriors take care of each other, because if something happens to one of us, then that means the Queen's defenses are weakened, which is something we refuse to allow happen. Especially now that she is with child, we truly have to stay on our guard."

"I am on my guard," I told him. He gave me a look, "You're drowning yourself in ice cream and depressing thoughts." "While also having various plants both under the swamp waters, high in the trees, and on the ground, keep me in the know of every movement, be them caused by air or water currents, or by the two patrolling outside," I told him. "For example, I know Axel is off to the East, digging at the ground in frustration over something. I also know Silver is now towards the back of the house, looking into the water as he walks along the edge." He studied me for a second before nodding.

I sighed and slid off of the kitchen island, deciding I should try and get some sleep. "Axel and Silver are questioning your intentions for swearing yourself," Talos told me. I shrugged, "And you?" He shrugged, "We all have our reasons. I'm just telling you this, because they may approach you." I sighed, "Of course they will."

After that I went up the stairs to get some rest.

The next day I decided to train my water abilities. I stood outside in my bikini, trying to control my breathing. I could feel my fellow warriors watching me. It was strange to thing that I was at least on some form of ranking with a couple of the Founders. Of course, power wise, they out rank me, but now the four of us share the title as the Queen's warriors.

My goal today was to pull water from the air and plants. It wasn't easy. It's been centuries since someone in the Denver family was able to do such a thing. Usually a member tries to specialize in only one element, despite being able to do things with all 4. I chose differently. I didn't want to be a one hit wonder. I was given these gifts, so I'll be damned if they go to waste.

Silver's POV

She swore herself to Alanna, and Alanna accepted it. I will never question her reasons behind it, but I do question why Violet would swear herself. I did ask Alanna and her our conversation rings loud in my mind.

"Why did Violet swear herself," I asked her. She smiled softly and put down her tray of paints. I had to admit, her talent with art was astounding. "Because she wanted to be accepted by at least one person in her life," she told me. She then gestured to a chair and I sat down while she sat across from me. "She is gonna hate that I told you this, but I feel that it's necessary," she told me while looking at the table. "The council had made her out to be some villain to her family. She tried to defend her case to them, but they turned their backs so easily to her, and disowned her."

Back when I was a boy, in the village I lived in, it was a serious thing to be disowned by ones family. If you continued to use your family name afterwards, you could be executed. I learned from first hand experience what it was like to be tossed aside by those you thought were family.

"She came to me, and swore herself, feeling she owed her life to me because I saved her. I accepted her, because I wanted to give her a family. Sure you and the others may not accept her, but I do. She is hurting Silver, badly, and she very much needs to be lifted up and shown it's going to be okay." Her smile was kind as she spoke. She truly did care for the human girl.

I stood there with Talos and Axel, watching as she tried, and failed at extracting water from the plants. Suddenly she coughed, and the smell of blood was in the air. We rushed over to her as she wiped her mouth with the back of her hand. "Your body was more damaged by the poison than you let on," Talos accused when be saw her. "How long have you been coughing up blood?" "I'm fine," she told us, eyes looking at the ground.

She went to walk away but I grabbed her arm, "Don't feed us that crap." Her fists clenched, "She put herself in a lot of pain to try and save me, I didn't want her to find out the amount of damage that had been done. Don't act like you care, I'm just some human, I'm gonna die anyways so what does it matter?" I spun her to face me, "What matters is that your not alone anymore." "Don't be stupid Violet, let me examine you," Talos told her.

She looked between the three of us. She yanked her arm from my grasp while sighing in defeat, "We don't tell Allie. I don't want to add to her stress."

We all agreed, knowing it was best to just keep it between us. After that her and Talos went inside to see if he can create some kind of medicine to reverse the damages to her body. "Do you think she would survive if she were changed," Axel asked me while we were on the porch. "Although human, her strength regarding the elements is astounding."

I shook my head, "I have no idea." Our talking stopped when we saw a few of those from the Faction come out. They've been quiet for the most part, except when a few of them feel like pissing off the twins. The twins have cared less about the things said to them, more worried about keeping an eye on their sister and mother.

Since their fight with Mackio and Claus all of the Faction have felt like challenging them, but they refuse. They find it pointless to fight without reason. Once a week they go out to hunt to but they try to stick as close to home as possible. Things are becoming tense and I don't know if any of us can handle it once that tension snaps. For now we can only be patient and see who makes the first move.
