Violet's POV

I woke up feeling drained and hungry. I saw I was in Silver's room. He was sitting in a chair by the bed. He looked at me when he sensed I was awake. "Don't move," he told me. "You'll reopen your wounds." "Allie," I asked him softly. "You bought her the time she needed to gather her power to put an end to the fight," he told me. "How did you know about the first attack?" "I have plants all over, that let me know of any unwanted guests. After my parents, I wanted to make sure I knew of any future attacks," I told him. "Doesn't that drain you," he asked concerned. "Sometimes," I confessed. "But making sure everyone is okay is worth it." He brushed some hair from my face and I leaned into his touch. "You need to feed," he said before standing to remove his jacket and roll up the sleeve of his white button up. No matter what, he always wears his suits. They were really fitting on him. I thought back to the two weeks we stayed at his cabin, when he only wore a pair of jeans, his fly open the entire time. I really enjoyed that sight more than I will admit.

He held his wrist out for me and I bit into him. As I fed from his wrist he ran his fingers through my hair with his other hand. "You were amazing out there," he told me. When I finished, I released his wrist. Then Talos came in. "How do you feel," he asked me. "Sore as hell and tired," I answered. At least I wasn't hungry anymore.

"You were impaled four times. I'm surprised you stayed conscious since the first time," Talos said as he and Silver had me sit up to check my wounds. "I wanted to make sure Alanna had the time she needed," I told them while wincing. "Fuck that hurts," I grumbled as Talos changed the bandages. "Its gonna take some time for the holes to close," Talos said. "You're stuck on bed rest till I say so. I catch you out of bed, I will bind you to it." I saluted him, "I understand."

He nodded then walked out as Silver helped me lay back down.  "Were you injured," I asked him softly. "I got impaled through my arms, pinning me to the side of the house," He told me. "How were they so powerful," I asked him softly. "They were feasting on the things that were coming out of the tears," he shared and I made a face of disgust. He shrugged, "They don't taste all that bad actually. Of course they taste better cooked, but food is food." "That's so gross," I told him while sticking my tongue out of the side of my mouth and he shook his head at me.

"Who else was hit," I asked him. "Damn near everyone is on bed rest currently," He told me with a sigh. "Some are healing faster than others. Right now though, I, the twins, Axel, Z, and Talos are pulling over time on patrols since we're the only ones able to move right now. We're also doing our best to help Alanna with Zephira since she doesn't have the strength to stand after being so drained. The twins handle her far much better. I am lost on what to do with her. I don't know children." I smiled softly, "They're not so bad once you get the hang of it. Growing up I had done a lot of babysitting to earn some money." "What did you earn the money for," he asked me. "To get my hair professionally dyed for the first time," I answered. "I had grown so tired of people confusing me with my sister so I decided to dye my hair. My mom had a major hissy fit over it." "What color did you dye it," he asked me, his fingers once again running through my hair as he sat on the edge of the bed. "I had this big thing for the band Icon For Hire, so like the singer, I dyed it hot pink," I told him. "I still love their music, but I will never go hot pink again. At least I wont do all of my hair that color, maybe some highlights here and there." "What are you wanting to dye it once you're healed," he asked me curiously.

"I'm not sure," I told him. "I'm going to live for eternity now, so I have the chance to try every color and style under the rainbow. What would you like to see?" "I truly know nothing when it comes to a woman's hair," he said, curling a strand around his finger. "I do enjoy your goth look though." I smiled, "You don't need to worry about that. It's not going anywhere anytime soon." I then couldn't help myself as I yawned. "Get some rest Violet," he said before kissing my forehead. I nodded before my eyes drifted close.

Silver's POV

I left the room quietly before making my way down the stairs. Much of the new remodeled house was damaged and I am growing annoyed of our home being demolished by those who wish to hurt us. It was rather inconvenient. I found Z in the living room with Zephira. Vlad was sitting in a chair by the fireplace, reading the paper. I gave the vampire a nod, but didn't say anything to him.  "How is Alanna," I asked Z. "Resting peacefully," he answered. "And Violet?" I nodded, "She is doing the same." He nodded and looked back to Zephira who was starring up at him with the brightest of eyes. "Jaden managed to pull the information of where they had been hiding from the Elder we have locked up," Z shared with me. "He and Jay went to see if anymore are waiting to attack us once more." "Will they need backup," I asked him. "They refused it," Z said with a sigh. "We already have so many injured, they didn't want to pull those who can fight away."

I nodded, but didn't say anything more. Instead I went to the porch. I could sense Axel patrolling near by while Talos continued his rounds, checking on the injured. I sat in one of the chairs and pulled out my phone. My lock screen was simple image that came with the device, but my home screen was a picture of Violet during our date. She doesn't know I had taken it. We were in the French Quarter and she was smiling over her shoulder at me, oblivious to the phone in my hand.

Talos came on to the porch and I slipped my phone into my pocket. "There's been a change in you," he said as he sat in the other chair. I raised an eyebrow, at him but I didn't say anything to him. "When Axel and I saw Violet all done up, at first we didn't have the best of thoughts, until she informed us it was you who was taking her out," he told me. "We were all convinced you didn't have a heart."

I growled softly and he rolled his eyes unfazed by it. "It wasn't until we saw your face when you saw Violet get impaled that we knew something between the two of you had changed," he said to me. I looked at the floor of the porch, the image coming into my mind. When I had saw Violet catch that Elder's fire, I saw the hole in her body from being pierced. She was pale and loosing too much blood. I went to run, to help her, but that was when the spikes came and caught me in my arms, slamming me into the house, while Violet was pierced by three of the spikes. I tried to free myself, not taking my eyes from her. Even though she didn't have the strength to save herself, she did her best to buy Alanna the time she needed. When Jay got me freed, I ran to her, as she was falling unconscious. Her blood was pouring on to the ground, and dripping from her lips. The sight of her before me devastated me.

I was too weak to protect her. To protect our Queen. I don't deserve to be bound to either of them. "We're all thinking it Silver," Talos told me. "The three of us failed. We failed our queen and we failed our sister in arms. Axel and I feel we have no right to be bound to Alanna, or to fight by Violet's side. We plan to train and strengthen ourselves so that if another attack does happen, we'll be able to protect them better." I nodded, "Count me in." Never again will a single scratch be put on my mate's body. Unless I'm the one that does it with her permission.
