Chapter twenty nine

29.

Beau stopped the car at the hospital entrance and I got Alexa out of the car running towards the hospital. Beau yelled something out of the car that I couldn't make out and soon left. I brought Alexa right over to the nurses who smiled at us

"my waters have broken, I'm in labour" Alexa said

"Okay sit there and we'll take you to the room" the nurse said letting Alexa sit in the wheelchair starting to push her down the corridor

"What's your name?" She asked as she walked beside us

"Alexa woods" Alexa cried

"okay and you are?" She asked looking to me

"Luke brooks" I said frantically

"Okay luke and Alexa just come into this room and Alexa im just going to check everything okay?" She asked

Alexa nodded and lay on the bed, eyes shut. I sat in the chair gripping her hand tightly

"Alexa are you getting the urge to push?" She asked looking to Alexa

"I suppose" she said looking to the nurse

"Okay well you're at 8 at the moment you need to get to 10 before you can push, no wonder your contractions are so bad" she chuckled

"I'll be back in 10 minutes" she smiled before leaving again

"Luke" Alexa cried

"This is so painful I don't know how I'm going to do it" she sobbed

"I know baby but we'll have our baby girl at the end of it and I'll be here the whole time" I said kissing her hand trying to remain calm

10 minutes passed and Alexa was starting to scream with pain, I felt so useless as I really couldn't so anything to help her

"Now Alexa let me check again" she said coming back in with another 2 nurses this time

"Okay you're ready to go" she smiled

Alexa looked to me and then to the nurses

"What im not ready" Alexa said starting to panic

"Alexa I know this is scary for you but you'll be okay i promise you that, now on three I want you to push as hard as you can okay? And take some deep breaths too" she smiled

Alexa nodded as the nurse counted to three, as she pushed she held onto my hand as Tight as possible. I didn't mind my hand being crushed because I knew that the pain I was feeling she was feeling 100 times worse

"good good okay now I want you to take a deep breath and push again" the nurse said

This process was repeated around 10 times before I heard the nurse say something again

"Okay I see the head, Alexa only a few more pushes and you're there" she smiled

Alexa screamed in pain as she pushed 3 more times until we heard the sweet sound of our baby being brought into the world. Tears filled in my eyes with happiness as i looked to Alexa

"Luke do you want to look?" She asked

I went to the end of the bed and saw our baby's head, her beautiful blonde hair and little cheeks

"keep going Alexa one more push!" The nurse said

"Put everything you've got into it Alexa you're almost there" she said

Alexa gave one last push and then that was it, the cord was cut and the baby brought off to be wrapped up

"I did it" she cried into my shoulder

"Here's your baby girl" she smiled handing her to alexa and I

Tears streamed down my cheeks as the baby rested softly in Alexa's arms

"Go tell the others" she said bearly able to speak

I quickly ran out to the waiting room where the boys my mum and Alexa's friends were waiting. I didn't say anything just walked over to where they were sitting. My mum ran towards me with tears of happiness

"Has she been born?" She asked

I simply nodded not able to do anything else soon the room was filled with hollers and screams of happiness as everyone jumped onto me. I started to cry with happiness into my mum, I was filled with so many emotions and crying with happiness just seemed to make it easier

"Can we go see her?!" Jai jumped

"Yeah but I think it's only 4 at a time" I said

"Okay so Gina beau jai and Zara, you all go first" James said

I brought them to the room where Alexa was, the baby still in her arms

"Alexa" said cried walking over to her

"She's so beautiful" my mum cried kissing Alexa's forehead

Everyone was in awe and my mum kept taking pictures, she said she wanted to make a baby album. Soon the groups switched and then it was past visiting hours so everyone had to leave

"Luke you haven't held her yet here" Alexa said

I gently took our baby girl into my arms and rocked her gently, the feeling was in describable, nothing could ever describe with it's like to hold your baby for the first time

"luke don't cry" Alexa said taking my hand

"I'm just so happy" I laughed looking to her

"What do you want to call her?" I asked

We both sat in silence for a moment until I looked at the baby again

"Kayla" I said

Alexa's eyes brighten and almost immediately agreed with that name

Kayla woods brooks, born July 18th 2012 weighing 7 pounds
