Twelve:

The Doctor is fiddling with something at the console again as you stand next to him, phone pressed to your ear. Your mum called to update you on her latest trip to the hospital.

"They believe what they found was cancerous but they still have to do whatever those damn doctors do to find out. I won't know for weeks." Your mum states, sighing on the other end. Her voice cracked somewhere in the middle and you sigh, walking to the captain's chair and sitting down on it.

"That's terrible, mum. Do I need to come home for a bit? I wouldn't mind." You state, leaning forward so your elbows were on your knees. You drummed your fingers nervously on your cheek as the Doctor's ice blue eyes connect with your (e/c) ones.

"No, no, you stay with the Doctor. I'll call you later sweetheart, I have to call your brother. Tell the Doctor hi for me baby." Mum said, her mood shifting a little. "I love you."

"Love you too, mum. I'll come around soon for a visit. Bye." You hang up and sigh, tossing your phone down on the grated floor of the TARDIS.

"What's wrong? You never throw your phone." The Doctor asks as he walks up to you, a frown on his face.

"It's mum. The Doctors said something about a potentially cancerous cell, I dunno. I just need to lay down and ignore everything." You stand up, tears in your eyes, and you're about to walk past the Doctor but he places both hands on your shoulders and pulls you close into a hug.

"You're not going to be alone. I have a duty of care. Come on, love." He keeps one arm wrapped around your waist and walks down the corridors with you.

You end up in the library where a fireplace is already lit. There's a blanket laid neatly right in front of it and you smile, knowing the TARDIS set this up. The Doctor places a soft, quick kiss to your lips, making you blush.

"Come on, love. Let's lay down." The Doctor leads you to the blanket and you lay down on it. He does the same and pulls you close. You can tell he is a little nervous and awkward with the touching, but he still seems adamant to hold you close and not let go.

"Doctor, I know you're uncomf-"

"No," he interrupts, placing a finger on your lips to hush you, "I'm fine. I'm here for you. And I'm not going to let you go."

The corners of your lips turn up slightly in a smile and you lay your head on his chest, listening to the soothing sound of his hearts beating. He awkwardly wraps his arms around you, making you laugh a little.

"You're so awkward. It's adorable." You giggle. He rolls his eyes, his overly expressive eyebrows shooting up.

"Nothing about me is adorable, my (y/n). Now get some rest. It'll get rid of your stress and I'll stay here the whole time." He kisses your forehead lightly and you grin, snuggling up to him.

Thirteen:

"Doctor!" You gasped as the female Time Lord burned her hand and hit her head against something hard.

The Doctor groaned in pain and scrunched her face up in a cute little pout. "Ow..."

You walk over to her and grab her wrist gently, bringing her palm up for inspection. She hissed a little at the pain as you pressed your fingers lightly to her burn.

"Come on, love. Let's get you fixed up in the medbay." You suggested, wrapping an arm around her waist. You realized pretty quickly during your relationship that the Doctor is a very clingy girlfriend who also is definitely not the man in the relationship, despite her once being a man.

She nuzzled into your shoulder a little with a loving smile on her face before you both walked to the med-bay.

You kiss her forehead as she sits on the metal examination table in the room, her ankles crossed as she looks down at her palms. You, being the hospital show geek you are, know exactly what to get for your girlfriend.

You grab some burn cream and a few other things, including some gauze, and walk back over to the Doctor.

"Let's see these burns..." She holds out her hands so you can inspect them. They're already blistering so you let out a sympathetic hiss. "This is going to sting, love."

You put the burn cream on her hands and a few other things before wrapping them. The Doctor tried very hard not to show that she was in pain, but you could easily see through her façade.

You kiss her forehead once her hands are wrapped up and smile. "You hit your head too, right? Can I look at it?"

"No, it's fine." She finally spoke up after hurting herself. "Its just a small bruise and a headache."

"Are you sure? I can-"

"I'm sure... But maybe cuddles will help?" She asked hesitantly, looking up into your (e/c) eyes.

You smile and nod, stepping back a little so she can get off of the table she was on. "Of course, baby. I'll just put some stuff away and then I'll be right there."

She leans down a little and gives you a soft kiss on the lips, making you smile a little as you kiss her back. She smiles as she pulls away and walks off to your room.

You blush as you quickly put away the things you took out, occasionally fumbling around with the gauze.

You walk out of the medbay and go down the corridors to your room. You've spent a lot of time walking around the TARDIS so you know where to go for everything.

Once you reach your room, you see the door is opened just a crack and you push it open gently. You smile as you see your beautiful girlfriend blushing as she sits on the bed.

You kick off your shoes by the end of the bed and give the Doctor a sweet peck on the lips before laying down. She follows suit but lays down on top of you, head on your chest. You run your fingers through her soft hair and she grins a little. You feel the Time Lord slowly drift off as you rub her back slowly, so you grab your soft throw blanket and cover the two of you, slowly drifting off into your own sleep.
