"WHAT DO YOU guys think you'll be doing for Summer break?"

Tamaki quietly ate his lunch, listening to his friends talk.

"Probably laze around all day," Hado giggled a bit, then turned to her short haired friend. "About about you, Yuyu-Chan?"

Yuyu put a bit more thought into it, thinking for a moment before answering. "I have some community service I need to catch up on. My goal is at least five hours during break." She resumed eating her sandwich.

Mirio gasped in awe. "That's an honourable goal! I wish you good luck! What about you, Tamaki?"

He raised his head now that his name was being called. "Um. . . There are some games I wanna buy. . ." His eyes wandered to the empty spaces around their table. She's not sitting here today.

"Neat! I have some I wanna buy to, maybe we can hang out and play together sometime?" Mirio suggested with a cheerful smile.

Tamaki blinked, then nodded in agreement. Being with his friend was something he actually looked forward to. "Yeah. . ."

Before they knew it, it was their last class of the day. The ravenett watched as the teacher explained how the exams would go, what it would mean, etcetera. So for the period, it was a study period, or make-up period for work that had yet to be turned in. Various students moved around. Rather than go that, Tamaki stayed in his seat, trying to review on his own for the exams coming up, which he seriously hated.

Shyly and as subtly as he could, he turned around. His eyes fell on (Y/n), who had her head down on her desk until the teacher approached her, talking to her.

Although he wasn't that far, Tamaki had difficulty making out what they said, only understand a few words here and there, but it was like pausing a song every few seconds, making it a hard song to understand.

He couldn't help but stare at her as she mustered an attentive face to the teacher, but he could tell she was sleepy, and might not actually care that much. It was a rare moment like this he couldn't help but let out a small chuckle.

Her (e/c) eyes finally noticed him staring like a creep, and when she looked at him, she smiled brightly.

Rather than smile back or even wave, Tamaki looked back at his work sheets, tapping his feet on the ground repeatedly in a staccato rhythm, a melody of his anxiety. I really hate those instincts of mine sometimes.

Not even a minute later, he sensed somebody's presence in the empty desk beside him.

"Yo."

He looked up, not very surprised to see (Y/n) there. She wasn't sitting properly in the seat though, instead having her legs against her chest and her feet on the seat rather than on the ground. Now that he looked at her for a second longer than usual, the action came off as somewhat-

"Cute."

(Y/n) raised an eyebrow, lacking context. "What?"

He covered his face with his hands, tremendously embarrassed at what he'd said. "I-Um, I mean, the birds. Cute. Out there. Be-Behind you. See?"

The (h/c)nette looked behind her to the window. "Oh!" she said innocently, now enlightened and smiling at the sight of the sparrows chirping about on the branches of the tree. "You're right--They're really cute!"

Tamaki did his best to cool down his burning face, but steam was practically emitting from his ears. He continued to hide his face, wanting nothing more than god, any god, to smash his head down the several floors they were on and into the ground.

"Say, Amajiki-Se-I mean, uh, T-Tamaki," (Y/n) stuttered, then cleared her throat, looking at him. "When do you want to try reviewing for this class together? Since there's only a week left until exams, we should start soon."

"Oh, um," Tamaki finally release his hands, and put them on the edge of his seat, leaning forward and back a bit. "Any time is fine. . ."

(Y/n) didn't say anything at first, but chuckled a bit, staring down. She looked back at him, trying to keep some kind of smile. "Alright. How about next Thursday? We get out early that day, so it'd give us more time."

The thing she did didn't sit well in his stomach, but he didn't question it. However, he did think he might know what she wanted to say.

"The first and second libraries should be available that day too," she added.

"Um. . .(L/n)-Chan," he began, avoiding eye contact as he often did. She expected him to continue doing that, but it was mildly surprising when he engaged eye contact after all. "Is your place. . . Is it free?"

"Hm?" She scratched her cheek. "It depends on your definition of free. My grandma won't be there tomorrow, so-"

"If-If it's possible-" He paused when he realised he interrupted her. "Oh, sorry, did you wanna add to that?"

"Um, not really, I guess," she shrugged. "Is something wrong? You look like you're going into cardiac arrest, haha."

Oh, crap. He was now painfully aware of how much his body seemed to be going into rigomortis, while being very much (maybe too much) alive based on the explosive blush on his face.

"Your place."

"Huh?"

"Could-Could-" He couldn't make eye contact, hostess looking off to the side and fidgeting with the edges of his shirt. "Could we-At-" Finally, he furrowed his eyebrows and stopped, forcing his self to relax. "Could we. . . study. . . at your place?"

(Y/n)'s eyes widened, puzzled and taken off guard.

At once, she seemed to be exploding too.

"Ah-I mean-If not-That's alright, I didn't reallycareeitherwaysowhocares-"

"It's fine!" she answered meekly, yet insistently. "Seriously. . . Don't worry about it, Amaki-I mean Tamaki. Heh Tamaki," she covered up with a forced smile, obviously flustered. "So don't worry. . . Yeah. It's cool. Mhm."

"Oh. . . Okay. . ."

Two kids felt like their chest was gonna burst from doing such a small, simple thing.

Life sure was a struggle.
