Addie's POV

It was dark. Dark and cold. It was a silly thing to notice given I'd been grabbed, hooded, and locked into some kind of box. My hands were zip tied tightly behind me, digging into my skin. I focused on not hyperventilating and instead counted.

I was in a vehicle that seemed to be moving fairly fast. It also seemed to not be on a paved road as I bounced around the box I was in. I counted and paid attention to every turn, trying to focus on how I would get out rather than the terrified tears that wanted to come out.

Left turn. One. Two. Three... I breathed in deeply as panic started to overtake me. Who had taken me and why? Where were they taking me and what would they do to me once they got there?

I was so angry at myself. I always paid such careful attention when I was out on my own at night. How they managed to sneak up on me still didn't make sense. I watched. I listened. I was always aware. How did this happen? Why did this happen?

The car slowed to a stop and I held my breath as I heard doors open and close. Something jostled my box and soon rough hands grabbed me and dragged me out. I kicked and tried to scream but the gag they had kept me from being too loud.

"Shut up," someone ordered right before I felt a strike to my face.

I whimpered as they dragged me on the ground. A door opened and I wasn't on dirt anymore. The floor was cold and smooth. Concrete maybe? More doors and then stairs which they dragged me down as well. I tried to keep the whimpers to a minimum as each step felt like it was leaving another bruise.

They stopped. Another door opened but it sounded different. I was thrown forward, hitting the ground. I spun around quickly so I wasn't so vulnerable on my front and felt the ground. Yes. Concrete. Where could I be?

Think, Addie, think. Don't panic.

The world became both brighter and bleaker when the hood was removed. A terrifying person stood over me. He almost looked inhuman. Thin. Pale. Eyes on the verge of red. Something about him seemed very predatory. Very dangerous.

I held back my instinct to cower and instead lifted my chin and met his gaze. His mouth quirked into a smile. A creepy smile. He pulled the gag out of my mouth and leaned in close.

"You're a feisty one, aren't you?" He cooed, reaching his hand out for my face.

I spit at his hand and he laughed before roughly grabbing my chin and leaning down.

"It's going to be a pleasure breaking you in," he whispered.

A chill ran down my spine and I shook my head to get out of his grip.

"What do you want?" I asked, desperately trying to keep my voice even.

"You'll find out soon enough," he said, smiling wickedly, backing out of the cell.

That was the door-like sound. A cell door. He gave me one last glance before shutting and locking the door. He walked away and murmured to a companion as they left the room, shutting a heavy metal door loudly behind them.

Once they left I breathed out unevenly and looked around, my chest tightening as my panic grew. I had to find a way out of this. I worked on the zipties but kept failing. I paused and took a deep breath. Panicking wasn't going to get me out of here. I calmed myself as much as I could and worked the zipties until my hands were free. Thank you, mom's paranoia.

I crawled over to the cell door and glanced around. There were more cells in the room but no guards. I grabbed the bars to help me stand, my legs protesting after their abuse down the stairs.

I felt around the outside of the cell, finding the keyhole. I glanced around my cell but I couldn't see very well. I dropped to my knees and felt around the ground for anything. A stray nail. A screw. Something had to be here. I moved across the floor methodically but covered my entire cell and found nothing. The panic started to creep in again.

A groan alerted me I wasn't alone down here. I stiffened and turned. The sound came from the cell next to me but most of it was cast in shadow. Whoever it was must be on the ground. Another groan and movement as he rolled to the edge of his cell, allowing me to see better. He was shirtless, his pants torn. Several bruises and cuts covered his body and he was breathing harshly.

I moved towards his cell slowly, my eyes darting around to see if I missed anyone else in here. He seemed to be the only one. His eyes were squeezed shut and he clutched his stomach best he could since his wrists were bound with chain. Blood was running down his arm from a rather nasty-looking wound and more blood stained his otherwise dirty blonde hair.

I reached the bars separating our cells and looked at him closely. Was this my fate? I took another steadying breath before trying to get his attention.

"Hey," I said softly.

Another groan as he turned his head towards me, his hand moving to cover the wound on his arm. His eyes fluttered a few times before finally opening. He blinked a few times before looking at me, his eyes widening.

"Luna," he breathed out.

Luna? Luna?

What the fuck?

A/N:

Hey all!

This is one of many books I've written for this universe. I'm not approaching every typical werewolf rule the same as what most people are used to. I'll get into more details throughout the story but the two major things I want to emphasize are:

First, for my world, Alphas are male and Lunas are female. Neither has power over the other, they are equal and treated as equal pack leaders. So, for example, later on you'll meet Luna Marissa. She's Luna of another pack and if she finds her mate, he'll be Alpha because he's mated to her and both will be equal leaders.

Second, I like to focus on pack connections as a whole, not just between mates. It's because of this, the person who just recognized Addie is not her mate. He's connected to his Alpha and because of that, he can recognize his Luna.

More will be explained later but I figured these were two important ones to bring up.

I always update on Fridays!

Also, my chapters will definitely be longer than this, this is just an intro :)

Thanks for reading! Please let me know what you think :)
