Liar (No Ship)

"Hey Deceit, I know you and Remus are settling in but I was wondering if I could ask you two some questions?" Patton was correct, the two aspects hadn't been in the "light sides" area of the mind for long but everyone had made up very quickly after they understood the two sides benefits.

"Uh sure Patton, shall I get Remus?"
"Please, meet me in the living room and just call me Pat." He replied with a smile and bounced off. It finally sunk in that Patton was going to ask them questions. That made him anxious.

After finally dragging Remus out of his room, they sat on the couch whilst Patton stood in front and Logan reorganised the bookshelf. That was less worrying, if Patton wanted us to be alone then we would be in trouble.
"So what's not up Patto-Pat?"
"That actually brings me to my first question. I wanted Remus here more for your support, if you need it, I don't want to strike a nerve. Sorry I'm waffling, waffles sound good, I'll make some after this. But question one: Why do you do that opposite speak thing?"

I just looked quizzically at the moral compass.
"Y'know, you say stuff like: "Don't have a good day" or "I totally agree". Apart from pretending to be us, you never really lie to us."
"Yeah well that because-" I slapped a hand over Re's mouth. This guy can't keep a secret.
"I... I do lie to you guys..."
"No-no you don't." Logan had cut in here.
"Lo, it's fine, obviously an awkward subject. Let's move on," I gave a nod in response and removed my, now saliva covered, glove from over Remus' mouth.

"I don't want to make things awkward but why have you got scales. Where as our differences to Thomas are impermanent like makeup, yours isn't." That made me uncomfortable but I should answer at least one of his questions. It will cause less suspicion.
"After...V...Virgil left it was difficult. There was an incident."
"An incident." Both Patton and Logan stood in front of us. Desperate to hear our words. I looked over at Remus. He looked guilty, I gave him a nod and a small smile.
"I was messing around with this spell book I found. V-Deceit was watching me. One of the spells hit a piece of metal and started coming towards me..." I could see that I needed to take over.
"I pushed Remus out of the way and got hit with it. I was scared, fight or flight, right? I don't blame you for the scales that are now on my face." I pulled the moustache wearing boy into my side.

"I want to ask some questions of my own, Deceit." Patton shot Logan a look. Remus and I nodded, maybe this would provide some release and closure for us.
"Does Virgil learn his impressive ability to lie from you. Is that why he hates you both."
"Huh! Hate us! Hate us! If anything we should hate him! He left us!" Remus was standing up now.
"Re, it's ok."
"No it's not!"
"I don't think any of us understand." Logan interjected curiously.
"Re, sit down. I totally don't think you should bring the other two. They probably don't need to be here for this. Especially Virgil."
Patton snapped his fingers. A disgruntled anxiety and sweaty prince appeared.
"I needed a break Patton. Now what are you in need off?" This seemed to be a regular occurrence for the princely side.
"I think you should sit down Roman, I think you all will need to if you want an answer."
"An answer to what?" The dark clad figure asked, glaring at the scaled man.

"V-Virgil, you can help us answer. Would you like to repeat the questions Logan?" Deceit said passive aggressively but with some hint of sadness behind his eyes.
"Well," Everyone was seated but Virgil and everyone could feel the tension in the room, "Why are you so good at lying and hate Deceit and Remus so much?"
"I'm not good at lying."
"Yes you are." Everyone sung.
"Ok so maybe I but it's to protect you people-"
"Yeah, how helpful." Deceit huffed.
"From who?" Patton interjected.
"From them." Virgil gestured towards the two dark sides.

Remus burst up from his seat, furious.
"I have had enough of this! Lie, after lie, after lie. You don't know how much I want to rip your throat out right now, but that won't stop you from lying. I'm done keeping your secret."
"Remus." Deceit tried to pull Remus down.
"No! He is painting us as the bad guys."
"Remus."
"No Virgil, I won't let him pretend to be you anymore!" Remus was distraught everyone watching intently as the scaled side stood up.
"Look me in the eyes Remus. Let it be. If V-Virgil wants to paint us as bad guys then this will probably convince the others that we are."
"But we don't deserve that!" Remus was still fuelled by anger and snapped his fingers.

There was now an anxiety with scales on his face and a Deceit with black eyeshadow under his eyes.
"No!" The eyeshadow clad Deceit stamped his foot.
"What?" All the light sides questioned.
"All the dark sides can imitate and pretend to be others. Come on, Logan your logic you must've figured it out by now!" Remus looked at Virgil, the one standing next to him.
"Yes I'm Logic! But this isn't logical!"
"Uuggghhh! That ruins the big reveal! Deceit has been pretending to be anxiety from day one! We came to speak to him but the traitor wouldn't let us." Remus was still angry but growing sad the more he spoke. Virgil pulled him into his side.
"Re, it's ok. I'll finish up. I didn't want to cause Thomas to panic so I thought it would be better to pretend to be Deceit, but I would never reveal your name, it wasn't and never will be my place."
Roman and Patton were shell-shocked whilst Logan looked confused still.
"But what does...Deceit have to gain?"
"I didn't want to be there. It was never anything to do with you, Remus or you, Virgil, I just wanted to leave. An opportunity appeared. Then it was easier just to pretend hate you."
Remus ran and gave the true Deceit a hug whilst Virgil sat down looking at the floor.
"I'm sorry you wanted to leave that badly... but I can't forgive you for that." The scaled emo was gone.

The mindscape was never the same.

I'm not sure how happy I am with this. If you didn't get it, I'm really sorry, but basically Deceit decided to pretend to be Virgil from day one so he wouldn't be a darkside. In Virgil's panic, he decided to pretend to be Deceit.
