Saskia dragged me up the stairs into a open hallway that over looked the courtyard. A fountain flowed in the center below us and several kids could be seen hanging about.
"Saskia slow down!"
"Slow my ass, you're the one who has long ass legs this should be easy!"
"She's not the flash," Linette called, scurrying behind the two of us, followed by the boys. She led me down another flight of stairs to the side of the hotel where a small single family house stood. Fishing through her pockets, she pulled out a key.
"She can't open that door even if her life depended on it," Linette whispered in my ear. Yann and Mathieu watched in amusement, they already knew what was going to happen. Saskia groaned, muttering a string of Greek curse words. I laughed lightly, taking the key from her.
"You won't be able to open it either," Saskia huffed, crossing her arms.
"Watch and learn sweetie," I smirked. I tugged the door handle towards me, lifting it up slightly before using the key. It jammed once halfway but I pulled harder, aligning the lock. The key turned swiftly, successfully unlocking the door. I pushed it open, grabbing my suitcase and rolling it in.
"You were saying?" Linette said," bumping Saskia's shoulder as she entered. Saskia stood in awe, staring at me. She scoffed, grabbing the key from my hand and raising it up to the light.
"Is this even the same key?"
I made eye contact with Yann, who was also holding in a laugh. The second out eyes met, we burst into laughter, soon joined by the others.
"I know, I know. I'm so funny, hahaha," Saskia mocked, tossing her hair over her shoulder.
"Linette which room?" I asked, pushing the handle on my suitcase down. As I moved to the stairs and was about to pick it up, Mathieu stopped me.
"I'll take it for you," he offered.
"Oh thank you very much," I grinned, letting him go ahead as Linette followed. The top of the stairs revealed 3 rooms lining both sides of the hallway, 6 in total.
"Saskia and Yann have those two rooms across from each other," Linette explained, pointing to the rooms in the far back. "Mathieu and I have these two next to each other," she said, nodding at the two on our right. "And Elliot has the one in the middle leaving you with this one."
My room was the first one on the left, right near the stairs. Convenient, I could reach the kitchen easily for my snacks. Ya know, priorities first. I pushed the door open, setting my suitcase in the corner. A queen bed stood against the far right wall or the room. Across on the left wall was a vanity table. A bathroom on the left of the vanity and a wardrobe on the right. It was perfect. But what I loved even more was the two huge floor length windows that let light flood my room.
I moved towards them, pulling away the light grey curtains. I pulled open the doors that revealed an incredible view. To the right stood the Tour Eiffel, tall and proud in the distance.
Balcony and view at the top^
"Oh. My. God."
"I knew you would love it," Linette grinned, standing next to me.
"My ass you did," I rolled my eyes. "You didn't know this existed. If you knew, you would've taken it."
"Oops you got me?" she said, more like a question. "Yeah you're right, I didn't. You were last to show up anyway," she teased.
"Hey, not my fault California's so freakin far."
"You're from California?" Yann asked from behind me as we all descended the stairs. The stairs led into the kitchen area and dining area. They weren't separate rooms which I didn't mind. The kitchen window had a nice view of the Eiffel Tower as well.
'"Yup, Bay Area kid right here," I grinned.
"Cool, my dad's working in Sacramento right now," he said, "6 month business trip."
"Damn, that's a long time."
Yann snorted before muttering, not long enough under his breath. Elliot cleared his throat, making me acknowledge him for the first time. He sent a pointed look towards Yann who looked away. The others seemed too caught up in a conversation to notice the exchange.
"What do you think?" Linette asked, snapping me from my thoughts.
"Huh?"
"Were you even listening?" Saskia asked, giving me a knowing look.
"Not even one bit," I smiled, knowing it would get on her nerves. She huffed, rolling her eyes.
"We're going to an Italian place a few blocks from here for dinner. That way we can get to know each other and see the city a bit," Linette explained.
"I'm down," I nodded, pulling my hair up into a ponytail, humidity was off the charts today. Linette looked at me confused before Mathieu explained, "It means I agree."
"Oh," she nodded, blushing a bit under his gaze. Do I see something blooming? Indeed, love is in the air.
