peace.

11 3 8

I find

That not a single heart I have met

Was not an angel with closed fists

Singing a song no one knows is there

Echoing their same desire

For a better world.

The night before

When you beheld the pyre

That burned yet another hope

Who everyone thought that

This was supposed to be the answer

Bring down others to keep chaos at bay, they say

But peace is not the distant star it seems--

Beautiful, real, yet so far away that you question if what you see now will be there when you're ready

Make you question yourself if it's worth it, to make the leap from prospect to action

The real test

Is that of our resolve

To love, or not to love

That is the question

In a world where the fundamental law

Of gain and loss

Have made balance

An irreparable set of scales.

The dissonance

The white noise, it calls for change

Amidst our thriving lives

There's injustice to be shamed

Where to start, where to end

This infinite circle of society?

Metal and chains?

They're colder than faith

Kindness to all?

Those at the top, they'll treat it like a doll

Is there nothing to fix?

How on Earth, do you propose, such an idea so sick?

In the end

The fortune teller played her hand

And in her cards, there was no clear answer

As to where Peace could have gone

But if not innovators

Or intellects

Or artists

Or inspiriers

Or lovers

Who are we to say that peace cannot be set free?

For peace is not a world of bottomless gold and rainbows

But the unconditional love of a little dove

Singing to the sun as it wakes

Giving our hearts another reason to open up

And gaze unflinchingly at the dawn of a new day, arms in arms.

A confusing poem, I know...still trying to get some inspiration while being stuck at home. Thoughts? How's your self-isolation going?
