warning: a little gore.

"hurry!" jimin screamed at yeji as he pushed her in front, putting a bullet in the zombie's head before it got any closer. more of them were coming like a crowd chasing after them. a bloody, rabid crowd.
jimin and taehyung were making a supply run into town, taking whatever they could find. this time, they found more than supplies. they came across someone alone, fighting for herself after being separated from the people she had left. she didn't want to say that she lost them because she believed that they were still alive. out there somewhere. they just had to be. she loved and missed them all, but there was one in particular. when she went to sleep at night, she could imagine her hand in his. she could try to believe he was there next to her, but when she opened her eyes...
he wasn't.
the group quickly got into their blue van, driving off as fast as they could to base. yeji's hands were clenched into fists in her lap, so they wouldn't see the way they shook. she tried her best to keep her straight face.
how long had it been? three months. three months of no contact with anyone. she had tried to figure out where they were, but she wouldn't have been able to make it herself if she tried to go out and find them. she knew that much. as fast as she was, they were going to catch up to her sooner or later. for a while, she had completely lost hope. if it wasn't for running into them at the pharmacy, she might've given up.
on the outside, she did well to hide what she was feeling, but jimin was the most observant and understanding person out there. so he sat next to her in the back of the van with taehyung driving in the front and took her hand in his, unfolding the fist she was making.
"you aren't alone anymore."
the words seemed to echo in her head and heart. she wasn't alone. not this time. they were words she had desperately wanted to hear. because she didn't want to admit how afraid she was, sleeping in the abandoned office building she had been luck enough to find empty. she had plenty of time to remember them. their faces. their voices. it might've been the only thing keeping her going. there were times when she would just sit down and simply cry her eyes out.
silent tears streamed down her face, leaving a trail where the dust covered her cheeks. she rest her head on his shoulder, gripping onto his hand like it was her lifeline. because she wasn't alone anymore.
he just sat there, letting her cry on his shoulder. jimin couldn't imagine being alone out there. he could tell from the first glance was that this girl was a strong one. so when she broke down next to him, he felt his eyes well up too.
the sun was beginning to set, breaking the sky into brilliant color as she looked out the window. soon, she fell asleep, and by the time she woke up, they were back at the base.
