this definitely was the way to get the prince's attention, but it was also the way to get everyone else's.

lia is new to it, and honestly, she wasn't liking it that much.

beomgyu, a well renowned knight and teacher leaned closer to his friend, who was watching everyone's reaction with a satisfied smirk.

"is that her?"

taehyun felt pride as he observed each face. as they should, he thought. he couldn't help but think he was great. and he couldn't help but hope she was going to have fun—regardless of the prince or not. he really wanted her enjoy herself tonight and hopefully far from her step family. in a ballroom this grand, it shouldn't be too hard.

on the middle of the floor was a prince looking for a way to shake off these two girls in really bright pink and yellow and not matching colors that wouldn't leave him alone. he was more than glad when something seemed to get them to stop, at least giving him some room to breathe and maybe say hello to some other people.

in another life, he would shy away from all this attention—if he wasn't a prince who was showered with it to the point where he'd gotten used to the fact that he was going to be noticed everywhere he went.

looking to where they were all staring, he was rendered speechless. she was a fairy—or what he thought one would look like.

lia, on the other hand, was pretty much thinking the same thing. he wore a deep blue, the color of the sky after the sun sets, over a cream button up. everything he was wearing was something a prince would—it was too easy to spot him: golden over the dark blue, beautiful fabric. the mask he was wearing matched and a long white cape fell off his shoulders behind him. and last but not least, the glowing crown on his head.

before he knew it, he was walking closer, extending a hand to her. the crowd automatically parted for him, all eyes trained on him and the mysterious girl they didn't recognize.

"would you do me the honor of a first dance?"

lia was surprised and stared at him a bit too long before shaking her head to clear it and respond with a smile.

"of course."

after hours of playing the man in the dance practices her sisters had went through, she was lucky enough to be able to memorize their steps.

the music started playing, elegant and light. her steps were more perfect than she thought they would be—thank goodness—and she figured that it might be the slippers. around her, the skirt billowed and fanned out, swishing with her movement like water.
