they were on the rooftop, the city below them looking like ants. the droplets fell, but the sun slightly peeked from behind the clouds, it's shining light filtering through. like it was unsure: should it rain, or should it not?

unlike the two standing together, gladly getting soaked by the rain. they have never been so sure in their life.

"we don't approve of him."

"we don't approve of her."

even when it mattered the most. their families hate each other, so why can't they do it too? why are they different? why did they have to choose?

yuna wiped the tears from his face with her sleeve.

"we'll be okay," she assured him, her gaze shining like the sunlight, glimmering with a promise.

in that moment, he knew. he knew that it was going to be okay.

kai's hand was clutched in hers. the world itself  doesn't revolve around their abandoned souls, but they revolve around each other. everyone down below, their stories, their lives. they're all different. each of them are special. unique.

how? out of so many, why them? fate was on their side, bringing sadness before clearing, showing them what they really had now.

each other.

"am i worth it?" she asked, her voice raised above the sound of the rain. his vision was blurry, but even then he could see her gaze. beneath her playfulness was doubt—underlying and barely noticeable. he can go back if he wants to; he can find someone else at the expense of leaving her to have everything.

his eyes filled with tears. but they weren't sad and she could tell.

"if my heart is beating closer to yours," he started, trying to wipe away them away with his wet sleeve, "then i can bear anything."

the way he looked at her through his tears. the way his hand held hers even tighter.

she was so sure that he was telling the truth. so much so it was overwhelming in the best way possible. how can someone be so sure of something? she wondered like she wasn't one to talk.

"you're worth all of it and whatever comes next," he continued, moving to stand in front of her. he brought her hand to the side of his face. it was his turn to be sure.

to be young meant you knew nothing—nothing about anything, and especially nothing about love. but whatever or whoever might've been watching could see that was wrong. it's wrong in them. is it possible for two hearts to woven together so perfectly? there and then...

she realized that it was.

starcrossed. just like romeo and juliet. except the ending doesn't matter.

not if he's next to her.

not if she's next to him.

the sun pulled through, shining down on them almost like a spotlight. they didn't have anything  else but the light was on them like they were special. like they were the stars of them—their story. even the darkness in the beginning was beautiful.

because their eyes tell and their words match.
