"Magsabi ka lang sa amin, Anak, kung may kailangan ka pa, ha? Your mom and I are only one call away." My dad kissed my cheek before leaving and closing the door behind him.

Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala na pinayagan nila akong bumukod and live on my own. Although, of course, they have no idea that Justin will also be living with me.

We were in La Union when Justin asked me to move in with him.

When I turned 18, my parents gave me the liberty to choose whatever I want as a gift.

. . kotse.

Everyone seems to be driving their own car, so why can't I? But then I realized na kapag may sarili na akong kotse, ibig sabihin no'n ay hindi na kami makakapagsabay ni Pat na pumasok at umuwi. May sarili kasi siyang sasakyan na regalo rin sa kaniya ng parents niya when she turned 18, and every day, she picks me up from our house at sabay kaming pumapasok sa Patterson.

Kapag nagkaroon ako ng sarili kong kotse, that means that I would have to drive myself to and from school. Duh? Ang lungkot kaya no'n.

So, I decided against asking for a car. I told my parents to extend the validity of their offer, and when the time comes na may naisip na 'ko na gusto kong regalo, I will let them know.

Pumayag naman sila.

So, here we are now, roughly two years later. I, Aubrey Nicole Chua, am now the proud owner of a fully-furnished two-bedroom condo unit!!!

Looking at the keys I have in my hands, sobra akong na-excite para sa future. We have known each other for years but we've only been together for a few months. They were the best—and the worst—months of my life, but I'm thankful that I had him by my side through it all.

When he asked if I wanted us to live together, of course, I had doubts. Saan kami titira? Sino ang magpo-provide para sa amin? Paano ang mga fees namin sa school? Paano ang pagkain namin every day? Lahat 'yon, pumasok sa isip ko.

Growing up as the only child of my parents, I can say that I lived a very fortunate life. Spoiled na kung spoiled, but it's the truth. My parents gave me the best of everything, and I will always be grateful to them.

When I told them that I wanted to live by myself, I know their initial reaction was to refuse. But we all know that it's bound to happen soon anyway. I'm already 20. It's about time I move out.
