I slouch back on my wooden chair with crossed legs that prop up on the table. My feet shimmy lightly to the hip-hop induced radio while I chew on a jerky stick and turn the pages of my catalog.

I should really be reading something with drama and Hollywood gossip, but honestly, Motor Magazine has everything. From the makings of high-end cars and how to fix them, to the variety of colors they come in...

"Shego, pass me the wrench?" Dad asks from underneath a rusted truck.

Keeping my eyes glued to my page, I pull the tool from my overalls pocket and pass it to him.

"Thanks pumpkin."

Once having sat back down, I can't help but lower the magazine and sigh at the open road.

It's been so quiet lately. You'd think the summer of 2006 would be more lively.

"What's wrong?" Dad emerges, wiping his oily hands with a rag.

"Nothing." I sigh.

He grins and pinches my cheek teasingly, making my face scrunch up. "Come on, you can tell your old man."

"...Business is just so slow lately, and the cars we've been getting are mediocre. I'm bored."

"Bored?! Are you not seeing this? This," he slaps the car proudly, "is a red Jeep Kaiser M715. Like the one that crackhead drives in that game you kids love."

"You mean GTA?"

"Yeah! You could hide bodies with this thing! Trust me, this'll be all the rage someday."

"Yeah, okay paps." I chuckle.

Even though I'm 18 now, dad always manages to cheer me up as if I were still his little girl. Since it's only us, I guess he feels the need to baby me. I don't mind though. We've always been partners in crime... From him pushing me around in my cardboard box-car at 6 years old, to us now, running a repair service together.

"Listen pumpkin," he sighs and wraps around me. "I know most girls your age spend their summer out shopping, meeting friends and going to parties. You know if you ever want to take a break—"
