"Lia, kindly check on the patient in room 105 please." Kakarating ko lang sa ospital at ito ang bungad sa akin bago pa man ako makatapak sa nurse's station.
"Alright." Im working in the hospital where mama works. I need to make a living for me and my son.
Pagkapanganak ko ay nagdesisyon akong magtrabaho agad. Mama paid for my hospital bills, Olivia, my sister even gave money to help us financially. Doktor na kasi siya sa LA.
Sinigurado ko na magkaiba kami ng shift para naman may maiiwan at magbabantay sa bahay. He's going to be 2 years old in a few months and I can't believe he's growing up that fast.
"Melanie, time for your meds." I smiled at her and checked her IV.
"Lia, when can I go home? Ugh. It's so boring here." Mainipin talaga ang isang 'to. Eh kagabi lang naman siya naconfine.
"Two more days I guess? What did Dr. Jones tell you?" She sighed and drank the medicine I gave. She had food poisoning that's why she's here.
"I just don't like being in hospitals plus all the nurses here seemed so dull and boring. Except you of course." Dagdag niya pa. Umiling na lang ako at tinapik ang balikat.
"Go and try something new. You have all the time to relax for a bit. Why don't you try reading?" Napaisip siya sa sinabi ko at tumango. Iniwan ko siyang nag-iisip at lumabas na.
Sa night shift ako naka-assign. Maliban sa mas malaki ang sweldo, ay gusto ko na nagpapahinga na lang si Mama sa gabi. Kasi pag-umaga gising pa ang anak ko, mas lalo lang siyang mapapagod.
Hours passed by fast whenever you are working. After I finished checking the charts. I decided to go home. I miss my baby already.
Nang makarating sa bahay ay agad kong narinig ang tawa ng anak ko. It automatically removed all the tiredness and stress I had all night. He's my happy pill.
"Where's my baby?" Nasa walker siya ngayon at pilit na lumalapit sa akin. He's so cute!
As much as I want to kiss and hug him. I need to take a bath first. Ayoko naman na makuha ng anak ko kung ano mang sakit ang dala ko galing sa ospital. I took a quick shower and went out.
"Anak, I have to go. Nagluto na akong breakfast. Patulugin mo yang anak mo nang makatulog ka na rin." She kissed me and him before she left.
"Did you miss me?" He raised both his hands, a sign that he wants me to carry him.
"M-mommy." I immediately smiled upon hearing him try saying a word.
He really knows how to make me happy despite how crazy life has been.
"My Joachim Alfonso, I missed you." I kissed his cheek and he giggled.
