With Trollex:

The former king was tossing and turning in bed, trying to fall asleep, but it was no use.

He sighed, sitting up and looking around the unfamiliar room.

He was currently deep underground, inside Branch’s bunker.

He didn’t know what time it was, since he was underground.

He looked down and saw Beat sleeping on the pillow beside him, snuggled up and snoring softly.

Trollex couldn’t help but smile, gently petting Beat’s head before getting out of bed, floating over to the door and leaving the room.

He wanted to go up to the surface to see what time it was.

As he made his way to the elevator, Trollex spotted what appeared to be a rack full of spears and other assortments of weapons.

Curious, Trollex floated over to the rack, looking at all the different kinds of weapons.

He spotted what appeared to be a replica of the trident his father had, only it was made of sticks, the barbs being made of sharp rocks instead of coral and shells.

Feeling the urge to pick it up, Trollex raised his left arm to grab the trident, but his hand stopped just inches away from it.

He felt something inside of him, something that was telling him not to.

His heartbeat began to race faster as he recalled a distant memory, one that he never wanted to remember. It was only a snippet, but he saw his mother.

She was telling him not to leave the palace, that it would be safer for them while his father helped the royal guard with the attack.

Trollex remembered picking up a trident, leaving the safety of the palace and going out to help his father, to show him that he can also help fight off the barracuda.

He heard a scream, and the memory was gone.

Trollex had been startled by the sudden scream, shaking his head.

It was only a part of the memory, but it sounded so real.

And familiar.

That scream belonged to his mother, a scream full of horror and worry.

And she had been screaming one thing.

His name.

Shutting his eyes and drawing his hand away from the trident, Trollex turned and left the weapon rack as he continued over to the elevator, deciding to fly up the elevator shaft instead of using the lift.

Peeking out from under the doormat, Trollex opened it up fully and glanced around.

It was still night.

Slipping out of the bunker and floating through the forest, Trollex found himself following a small path that led him to the beach.

The former king smiled when he saw the water, the moon’s reflection shimmering brightly through the soft waves.

Quickly zipping over to the water, the former king dove in, swimming below the surface and allowing the cool water wash over his dry body.

He was used to sleeping underwater, below the gentle waves that Techno Reef was located.

Techno Trolls never had to worry about problems like dust storms or rain storms or anything like that, since they were underwater, but they would feel the currents shift occasionally during a hurricane or when the waves grew larger. That’s when they have to be careful, most opting to stay indoors until the currents shift back.
