『 four. THE INCREDIBLE ACT OF
THE EXPLODING PSYCHOPATH 』

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑 was winter, in Hallie's opinion at least. She hated wear big coats, and hated how she would get so cold from standing waiting for the bus to pick her up for so long her nose would get runny. And she of course hated the snow. It wasn't even really snow, there was barely any of it. She wouldn't have minded it so much of it wasn't just little bits of sludge here and there. But in Tennessee now, it seemed like that was all they had anymore.

She pulled her jacket tighter around herself, in hopes that if she warmed up a little bit then her teeth would stop chattering as she walked along the sidewalk next to Tony to guide him to Mrs. Davis, having told Harley to wait back in the car (knowing he wouldn't). It made her paranoid to know he most likely wouldn't do as she said, and she continuously looked back over her shoulder to see Harley's blue eyes peering at her as she checked to make sure he was still there.

As they stand right outside the doors to the bar, seconds away from entering. However before they get the chance, Tony's shoulder brushes into someone, and Hallie rolls her eyes at the clumsiness of the act. She felt annoyed being forced to stop as soon as they were about to enter, as Tony mumbles an apology. The woman doesn't say anything, continuing to walk even as she drops something. "Lady, this uh..." he picks up the item and hands it back to the woman who had stopped, turning to the look at the pair.

The woman takes it with a smile, but when she smiles Hallie feels something crawl in her gut, and she wants to run away as soon as possible. Find Harley and get home before something bad happened. "Thank you." She saids, extending a hand to take it from Tony, who notices the woman has burn marks on one side of her face as the wind picks up and Hallie herself squints slightly, trying to identify the woman. It was one of those towns where everyone knew everyone, and quite honestly Hallie felt even more on edge as she didn't recognize the woman.

Tony managed to pass off the staring, saying, "Nice haircut, suits you."

"Nice watch." The woman says as Hallie continued to look at her, racking her brains and trying to remember if she had ever seen this woman before.

      "Yeah, limited edition."

"Oh, I don't doubt it." there's a moment's pause and her eyes flick to Hallie, who manages to hold eye contact with her despite the woman being rather intimidating. Whether it was the choppy haircut, or the burns across her face or the way her eyes seemed to pierce into Hallie'd soul that made her so intimidating, Hallie didn't know. Her eyes flicked back up to Tony, before saying, "Well, have a good evening." the woman turns and walks off and Hallie watched her leave, still having a lingering bad feeling.
