『 six. THE BUILDING OF THE HOME
DEPOT GADGETS 』

AFTER MANAGING TO LEAVE THE FANBOY BEHIND, HALLIE ONCE AGAIN FOUND HERSELF BEHIND THE WHEEL OF HER CAR AS SHE DROVE, TONY SITTING NEXT TO HER.

"Shouldn't we check in on Harley?" Hallie asked, trying to keep her eyes on the road and next to her Tony nodded.

"Yeah, just give me a— hey what's this?"

Hallie looked over to see him rummaging in her glove compartment felt herself have a mini heart attack as he pulled out the singular paper she never wanted anyone to find, quickly reaching over and trying to grab it out of his hands but he snatched it back. "I swear to god, Stark, I'd you don't put that away right now I will—"

"Eyes on the road." Tony said and Hallie gasped, pulling the car back into the correct lane even though she had only been drifting slightly and there was no one else on the road, but it still caused her to be more anxious when driving which proved a good distraction for Tony as he unfolded the paper. "I thought you said that you didn't get into MIT." He started looking over the paper before holding it up for her to see, despite having seen it a million times. "Feel like explaining?"

Hallie glanced over at the paper, pursing her lips before looking back at the road, hands tightening on the steering wheel. "Not really." She noticed him still looking at her and sighed, feeling uncomfortable as she had never talked to anyone about it. "I only applied for a scholarship at MIT because Harley wanted me to and I knew I'd regret it if I didn't take the chance. I never expected to get in, even with a scholarship it costed too much. And then my mom died and I needed to look after Harley so I just never told anyone about it." She shrugged it off. Tony hummed and looked back at the paper, seemingly deep in thought. She looked over at him, confused and wondering why he hadn't said anything. "Spit it out Stark, you always have something to say." She asked.

Tony shrugged and shook his head saying, "Oh nothing. Just wondering how Harley will take it."

Hallie scoffed and snapped, "Harley won't be taking it anyway because he won't be finding out. It's not like I can control the costs of college, Tin Man." She glares.

"Fair point." Tony started before continuing on, "And I'm sure Harley would've understood that. But I also think you are making excuses."

Hallie rolled her eyes and looked at him out of the corner of her eye, "Just check in on Harley and put that away. Got it?"
