All of Hogwarts was practically buzzing when the Professors announced that there was to be a Winter's Ball. Everyone was fretting about what they were going to wear and who they were going to go with. Lily Evans was excitedly talking to her friends, when Amos Diggory walled over to her and tapped her on the shoulder. She spun around to tell Potter off for the fortieth time that day, but when she saw who it was she said "Hello, can I do anything for you?"
"Sure, you can be my date to the ball," Amos said boldly.
"Oh ok, I would love to," she replied meekly blushing and looking down. About ten minutes after Amos left, James Potter ruffled his hair and started walking towards Lily. He tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around, but this time she wasn't to tell Potter off. "Erm..." she faltered, "Potter, what do you want?!,' she finished harshly clipping off the end of each word.
"Will you be my date to the ball," he asked producing a bouquet of daisies from behind his back. "My favorite flower," she thought.
Instead she said "Sorry Potter, you're about ten minutes to late. I'm afraid I am going with someone else." James lowered his head and shoved the bouquet in her hands. She turned to watch him walk back to his friends. She saw Remus give James a comforting pat on the back and tell Sirius off for laughing at him. She turned back to her conversation.
*Time Skip to the Ball*
The day of the ball had finally arrived. Everyone rushed to get through their classes so that they could get ready. Lily was one of the first girls to rush upstairs to get ready. She did her har to where it cascaded in soft curls down her shoulders and back. She wore a gold headband to top her head, ornately decorated with flowers. Her face was lightly brushed with makeup, enhancing her features. She wore a cream dress with off the shoulders sleeves. The fabric flowed like water when she moved. She had paired the dress with some simple gold heels, a pair of gold earrings and a gold teardrop necklace. As she descended down the stairs, James thought she looked like a goddess. She turned to look at him. He quickly straightened his tie and started flattening Remus' hair. He still felt her eyes on hm so he tied Sirius' tie (who promptly untied it again). He desperately tried to act busy. Lily on the other hand was lost in thought. She couldn't help but think about how effortlessly James matched her. He was wearing a navy suit and a cream tie. She couldn't help but admire how he was mother-henning his friends.
Everything was going well until her date showed up.
